Kaohsiung Mayor Han Guoyu Attends Launching Ceremony of Autumn Squid Fishing Boat

Kaohsiung Mayor Han Guoyu went to Qijin yesterday (7) to attend the disembarkation ceremony of the first newly built autumn squid fishing boat "Fa Da Cai" of Fa Da Cai Fisheries Company. He and the fishing industry elders together offered incense to pray for peace and smooth. The drums of lion dance rumbled and the scene was lively.

Mayor Han Guoyu said in his speech that under the leadership of Chairman Sun Zhiqiang, Fatacai Company is moving towards diversified operation. From the original operation of longline fishing vessels to the operation of cross-foot autumn squid fishing vessels, it is the pioneer and model of Kaohsiung's offshore fishing industry. The first autumn squid fishing vessels will join the fleet of Taiwan's squid and saury fishing vessels in the southwest Atlantic Ocean, the North Pacific Ocean and the Peruvian Ocean in the East Pacific Ocean, and will contribute a lot to Kaohsiung's marine industry.

Later, Mayor Korea Yu participated in the highlight of the launching ceremony,"bottle throwing". The bottle hung down from the bow. Before the ship was launched, the guests let the bottle fall on the bow and smash it. At the end of the ceremony, the boatman sent people from the ship to the shore to scatter cookies and candy, symbolizing full return. The new ship is expected to bring in a large amount of output value for the industry and allow Kaohsiung's fishing industry to grow and harvest. Mayor Korea Yu also hopes that when the company expands its business scope, it will create more job opportunities for Kaohsiung and drive Kaohsiung's progress and prosperity.
