Yuli, located to the south of Hualien, is Taiwan's rice warehouse, ranking among the top four in rice production in the country. at the same time, it also produces watermelons, Wendan and golden needles, and helps farmers in Yuli and Zhuoxi Township sell agricultural products. Seven years ago, the Yuxi Peasants Association tried to combine the Peasants' Association supermarket with super merchants to turn the sales of agricultural products from a deficit to a profit.

In addition to expanding the operation of the whole family, the peasant association supermarket also allows small farmers to put their own fresh fruits and vegetables on the shelves, and the peasant association only collects management fees. At the same time, the peasant association supermarket is also a direct marketing station for farmers in Yuxi, charging only 15% of the storage management fee for fresh food. Become the most favorable sales platform for small farmers.

The local small farmers in Yuli and Zhuoxi went to the peasant associations to label their products and put their products on the shelves. The peasant associations only decided to charge management fees. 15% of the fresh and 20% of the processed products (photography _ Lin Yijun) supermarket extended the exhibition time of agricultural products, and the small farmers went on the shelves on their own.

Tsai Tsung-Han, director general of the Yuxi Peasant Association, who has been in office for three years, explains that in the past, the main competitors of peasant association supermarkets were traditional vegetable markets, but later, after the emergence of Quanlian supermarkets, the competition became even fiercer. "at that time, there are two Quanlian and seven small seven here in Yuli, and peasant association supermarkets are becoming more and more difficult to sell."

Tsai Tsung-Han says that former Director-General Peng made a bold decision in 1982: "there is no whole family in Yuli. The former director-general went to negotiate with the whole family to join in the name of the peasant association." As a result, located next to the promotion department of Yuxi Peasants' Association, Taiwan's first super-commercial joint store of peasant associations was born.

At present, there are 17 peasant associations in Taiwan. Seven years ago, the Yuxi Peasant Association was the first. Tsai Tsung-Han says that the advantage of joining the whole family is that the peasant association already has room and only needs to replenish the equipment. The form of supercommerce is also tantamount to lengthening the time for the sale of agricultural products.

The joint store is divided into two areas, half of which are sales areas for agricultural products, ranging from fresh to processed products. Chen Meiling, director of the promotion department of Yuxi Peasant Association, explained that the main crops in Yuxi are rice, watermelons, Wendan and golden needle flowers, but there are still many small-scale farmers who grow fruits and vegetables. These small farmers can put their agricultural products on the shelves jointly signed by peasant associations, and farmers' associations only charge warehousing management fees, 15% for fresh products and 20% for processing. There is no extra charge for getting on the shelf.

Chen Meiling pointed to each basket on the fresh shelf. "the agricultural products in each basket come from the same farmer." She picked up one of the lemons and pointed to the label sticker on it, saying that farmers can apply to the peasant association to put the packaged agricultural products on the shelves, and after bringing the packaged agricultural products to the peasant association to log in product information (producer curriculum vitae, items, and prices), they can print out stickers, and farmers will make their own shelves.

Tsai Tsung-Han says that there are fewer farmers growing vegetables on a large scale in Yuxi, and considering that supermarkets have to prepare enough items, in addition to fruits and vegetables in the east, it is also made up by organic fruits and vegetables in other areas of Huadong. "Huadong will not consider the west until Huadong gives priority to Huadong."
