Tigen is a commonly used method in bonsai modeling. The beautiful and unique root plate can greatly increase the appreciation of bonsai. So can orchids pick up their roots? The answer is no, it can't be mentioned. There are mainly the following reasons.

1. The root system of orchid can not support its own weight.

The root is generally aimed at woody plants, when the root system is lignified, it can support the weight of the plant itself, increase the ornamental value of the root plate, and form a unique ornamental effect. For example, rose, triangular plum, rhododendron, gardenia and other common flowers can be rooted. However, no matter how long the root system of orchid grows, it is always a soft fleshy root, which can not support its weight at all. Even if you mention it, it will crawl down and grow close to the ground, making it difficult to achieve the effect of woody flowers lifting roots.

2. Root lifting can easily lead to the drying up of orchid roots.

The root system of orchid is fleshy and its water retention capacity is poor. When planted in the soil, untimely watering can easily lead to root emptiness and affect the growth of orchids. If it is exposed to the air, even if part of the lower part is still in the soil, the exposed roots will soon dry up, and eventually all the roots will die, and the fate of orchids can be imagined. Why can woody flowers take root? It is because the structure of the Lignified root is completely different from that of the fleshy root, when the root is exposed to the air, the bark epidermis will age rapidly, forming a protective layer, which can still maintain normal growth without drying inside.

3. Lifting roots can easily cause orchids not to blossom without new seedlings.

In addition to the root system, the Reed head of the orchid is not recommended to be exposed to the air for a long time. Hasty lifting of the root will cause the orchid not to sprout or blossom, and the Reed head will be damaged and withered over a long time, and the whole orchid will wither. The Reed head of orchid is equivalent to the human heart, which plays the role of storing and transporting nutrients and water. At the same time, the Reed head of orchids is equivalent to the human uterus, which can not only give birth to new seedlings, but also flower buds. Although the Reed head can be exposed outside the material, it can not be too separated from the material, otherwise it will easily lead to poor growth or even dry up of the Reed head. Different varieties of orchids have different requirements on whether the Reed head is completely buried in the material, but the overall requirement is that they can not be exposed to the air.

Conclusion: for the above three reasons, orchids can not pick up the root, and the root is a dead end. There is neither the prerequisite nor the value of the root, nor the reason to support it.
