The reasons for the rotting roots of gentleman orchids are as follows:

① improper fertilization: the application of immature organic fertilizer, fermenting in the basin to produce high temperature, burning the roots; or excessive fertilization, or let the fertilizer directly touch the roots, burning the roots and causing the roots to rot.

Improper watering of ②: too much watering and poor soil permeability caused the fleshy root to rot gradually after soaking in the anoxic soil for a long time.

The proportion of ③ culture soil is improper. Improper proportion of cultivated soil will cause basin soil consolidation, poor permeability and long-term stagnant water in the basin, resulting in rotten roots.

When ④ ramets, the roots inadvertently cause trauma and rotting roots caused by bacterial infection.

The prevention and control methods of rotten roots of Cymbidium are as follows:

The rotten roots of Cymbidium should be treated according to the above reasons, and the rotten roots should be knocked out of the basin immediately, gently peel off the soil, rinse with clean water, and then use clean shears to cut off the rotten roots. Then soak the root in 0.1 {bf} potassium permanganate solution, take it out, dip it in a little sulfur powder or plant ash, and leave it in a shaded place to dry. If the rotten roots are serious, the diseased plants will first be planted in the sand sterilized by boiling water to promote the growth of new roots; if there are fewer rotten roots, they can be replaced with new culture soil and put on the basin again. After potting, watering should be properly controlled, the half-shaded place should be maintained, and the new roots should be germinated and then transferred to normal fertilizer and water management.
