The soil in the north is generally alkaline, which does not meet the requirements of planting rhododendron, camellia, gardenia, jasmine and other acid-loving soil plants in the south. Here are several ways to improve the soil quality.

1. Alum method

Alum is called alum. Alum is dissolved in water to make 1-2% solution, which is applied to loose fertile soil rich in humus. It is irrigated every half month or so, which is beneficial to the growth of camellia, rhododendron and other plants.

2. Ferrous sulfate method

Ferrous sulfate, commonly known as green alum, is irrigated with 0.2-0.5% ferrous sulfate solution every half a month or so. It is particularly effective for acidophilic flowers and trees, such as gardenia yellow leaves, and has obvious effect on southern acidophilic flowers and trees.

3. Sulfur powder method

Sulfur is a massive crystal, which can be ground into fine powder by itself and mix well with basin soil when in use. Generally, 1-2 grams are added to the soil with a diameter of 30 cm tile basin. Sulfur powder is insoluble in water, so its effect is slow and lasts for a long time.

4. Orange peel method

After the fresh orange peel was soaked and ripened in water, its PH value was below 5, which had fertilizer effect. It was diluted with water when it was used, and its PH value was tested to an appropriate degree.
