There is a lot of soil that can be used to grow orchids, but generally speaking, it should be loose and fertile slightly acidic humus soil. In daily maintenance, we can use pine needle soil, garden soil, coarse sand mixture, can also use rotten leaf soil, cinder, perlite and so on, as long as enough nutrients, smooth drainage, not alkaline can be used to maintain orchids.

I. soil quality requirements

When choosing soil quality, we mainly consider the root system. Orchids are mostly fleshy roots, which have higher requirements for soil. When planting, we should choose sandy soil that is loose, fertile, breathable and well drained, and is also rich in humus. Only in this way can we have enough nutrients to develop roots. Generally speaking, PH around 6 is the most appropriate.

2. Soil allocation method

There are many materials that can be used for the maintenance of orchids, such as pine needle soil, red soil, rotten leaf soil, coarse sand, perlite, sawdust, broken red bricks, river sand, and so on, but these things cannot be planted directly. They should be combined with the two, some to provide nutrients and some to ensure water permeability. should be used in proportion.

For example, we can plant rotten leaf soil in proportion to sandy soil or garden soil, while more demanding ones like Guolan can be used after mixing red soil, river sand, and rotten leaf soil at 3:1:6. You can also use rotten leaf soil, river sand, and perlite at 3:1:1. When putting on the basin, you can add some coarse sand to the bottom of the basin to ensure better drainage.
