How to raise sword orchids and pay attention to controlling the amount of water
Sword orchid has long dark green slender leaves, like a soft ribbon, petals large and thin, bright color, the breeze can also bring bursts of fragrance. The sword orchid is delicate and beautiful, so special attention should be paid to watering water when breeding.
Culture methods of sword orchid
1. Soil selection
The demand for soil is not very high, generally in the soil layer of deep, loose, fertile slightly acidic sandy loam can grow well. It is best to control the good drainage of the soil, it is not easy to form hardening, otherwise the sword orchid is easy to absorb the necessary nutrients for growth, affecting the effect of flowering after flowering.
2. Sufficient light
Sword orchid is a typical long-sunshine plant, which likes plenty of sunshine. Therefore, the growth of sword orchid needs to ensure sufficient light, it is best to give it more than 14 hours of light every day, only in this way can flower buds differentiate. Lack of light will cause individual florets to wither and lose their vitality, sparse flowers, and easily lead to disease.
3. Temperature requirement
Not hardy, so pay special attention to it in winter, need to put it in a warm indoor culture, and timely adjust to the appropriate temperature, in order to avoid frostbite. The usual growth temperature should be controlled between 20 and 35 ℃, and the highest temperature should not exceed 35 ℃, otherwise it will cause burns to the leaves and flowers.
4. Control the amount of water
It has very strict requirements for water, and the amount of water should be controlled when watering. If the amount of water is too large or the basin is moist for a long time, it will lead to root rot, but if the amount of water is small, it will also cause water shortage and make the leaf tip withered and yellow, without spirit. When the weather is dry in summer, you should pay attention to spraying water to it frequently, and if there is stagnant water, it should be discharged in time. Stop watering when flowering, which can prolong the flowering period.
5. Disease and pest control
The main pest of sword orchid is double-line mucilophilic slugs, which can be sprayed with lime water in bottles or sprinkled with lime powder around the potted plants to prevent them from entering. If it is found that the phenomenon of insect pests has appeared, the rot and damage should be removed in time, and the basin soil should be cleaned up at the same time to prevent secondary infection.
When the sword orchid blossoms, the flowers will bloom one after another, like no one else, scrambling to show their beauty, for fear that others will not notice, so when they bloom, they are generally very lively, varied and beautiful. Keeping it at home can be regarded as a beautiful scenery, so please raise it as soon as possible.
