Flower canna is native to America, India, Malay Peninsula and other tropical regions, like warm, moist and sunny, not cold-resistant, afraid of strong winds and frosts. It is not strict with the soil, can withstand barren, and grows well in fertile, moist and well-drained soil.

After the plant withered in late autumn, cut off the aboveground part, dig out the rhizome, dry it for 2-3 days, and bury it in the well-ventilated sand in the greenhouse. Do not water and keep it above 5 degrees to survive the winter safely. In the south of the Yangtze River, the roots can not be dug out in winter, as long as they are sealed with soil, they can still sprout in the next spring.

Canna flowers have strong adaptability, extensive management, not coquettish, and few diseases and insect pests. Attention should be paid to leaf curling pests from May to August every year so as not to damage their tender leaves and inflorescences. It can be sprayed with 50% dichlorvos 800 times or 50% prednisone EC 1000 times.

When planting canna, tigers occasionally occur, which can be caught manually or infused to control the root soil with 600-800 times solution of trichlorfon.

The propagation of flower canna: the reproduction of canna is mainly divided into individual plants, and it can also be sown and propagated.

Ramet propagation was carried out from March to April. Dig out the old rhizome, divide it into blocks, keep 2-3 buds on each rhizome, with roots, plant it into the soil about 10 cm deep, keep the plant distance 40-50 cm, and pour enough water. When a new bud grows to 5-6 leaves, a rotten fertilizer should be applied so that it can blossom in the same year.

Canna flowers are rarely propagated by sowing, but only when cultivating new varieties or propagating in large numbers. Sowing is usually carried out in the greenhouse from March to April every year. Because the seed shell is hard, cut the shell with a knife before sowing and soak it in warm water of 25-30 degrees for a day. It is easy to sprout after sowing. If the temperature is maintained at about 22-25 degrees, it can sprout in a week, wait for the seedlings to grow 2-3 leaves, and then transplant.
