Orchids are mainly divided into fine leaves and broad leaves. When mixing soil, the former mainly uses decaying soil, while the latter mainly uses solid soil, but the specific emphasis depends on the breeding environment. The simplest is to mix red soil and humus soil in a ratio of 3:7, or garden soil, field soil and humus soil in a ratio of 3:2:5, or coarse sand and humus soil in a ratio of 3:7. In short, we should take air permeability, water retention and humus as the benchmark.

1. Soil selection

It has many varieties, mainly divided into fine leaves and broad leaves. Different varieties of soil are selected for planting, but most of them are mainly decayed leaf soil. Among them, the cultivation of fine leaves mainly uses rotten leaf soil, while the cultivation of broad leaves mainly uses solid soil, but the specific emphasis depends on the breeding environment.

II. Soil preparation

1. The simplest soil ratio for planting is to mix red soil and moldy soil, the approximate ratio is 3:7, so that nutrients are sufficient and conducive to plant growth.

2. If it is not convenient to obtain red soil when planting, you can also add proper amount of decaying soil to the garden soil. Specifically, garden soil, field soil and rotten leaf soil are allocated according to the ratio of 3:2:5. However, garden soil and field soil are usually planted mature soil, so the amount can be increased.

3. Orchids also require certain air permeability in the soil during cultivation and maintenance, so they can also be mixed with appropriate amount of sand. It is best to use coarse sand for better air permeability and drainage. Specifically, it is prepared by adding three parts of coarse sand and seven parts of moldy soil.

III. Precautions

When planting orchids, no matter how the soil is prepared, it is necessary to pay attention to the three points of permeability, water retention and humus. If it only contains humus, but the permeability is not good, the root system is easy to rot and cannot survive in the later stage. If the permeability is good, but there is no humus, nutrients are not sufficient, growth will also be affected.
