Due to the limitation of culture volume, the soil properties of potted flowers are easy to deteriorate, resulting in poor plant growth, leaves yellowing, wilting and even death. Therefore, it is necessary to turn the basin and change the soil regularly to supplement and improve its nutritional conditions.

When there are many young roots protruding from the drainage hole at the bottom of the basin, it shows that the root system in the basin has been crowded and needs to be changed. The flower plant can also be knocked out from the pot, if the surface of the soil block is covered with fine roots, showing a felt shape, it means that the pot needs to be changed; if there are many branch roots, it means that the larger basin should be replaced.

1. Time to change the basin:

Perennial roots and woody flowers should be carried out between the dormant period and the sprouting of new buds in early spring, and those who bloom in early spring should change pots after flowering.

2. The method of changing basin:

Do not water 1-2 days before changing the basin, so as to facilitate the separation of the basin soil from the basin wall. When changing the basin, knock the plant out of the basin, shovel off 20% of the old soil at the shoulder of the soil block and around it with flowers, cut off the withered root, rotten root, disease and insect root, etc., fill the bottom of the new basin with a small amount of furnace ash or coarse sand, put the shoveled soil block in the middle of the basin, and finally fill the soil basin with newly cultivated soil.

3. The problems that should be paid attention to when changing the basin:

The main results are as follows: (1) most flowers are suitable to use neutral acid sandy loam with rich humus and pH value of 5.5-7.0, which can be prepared by themselves or buy special culture soil from florist.

(2) the drainage hole of the pelvic floor should not be blocked. The drainage hole can be covered with a double-layer window screen or built into a glyph with two pieces of broken tiles, so that it can be covered without blocking, blocking and not dying, which is conducive to drainage and ventilation.

(3) the planting depth of the pot-changing plant should be maintained at the root neck of the original buried soil.

(4) except for fleshy root flowers and cactus flowers, most flowers should be fully watered once after changing pots, put in semi-shaded places and watered moderately, and only after the new roots grow, can they be watered normally and gradually placed in sunny places.

(5) to apply fertilizer in combination with changing the basin, a layer of rotten cake fertilizer or other organic fertilizer can be put into the bottom of the basin as base fertilizer.
