Growth characteristics of radish
Radish is a typical rhizomatous vegetable, which has a very large planting area in China. Radish yield is higher, its nutritional value is also relatively high. It is welcomed by many people, but when we plant radish, we must first understand the growth characteristics of good radish before we can plant it better. So what are the growth characteristics of radish? The following small series will give you a brief introduction. Let's take a look together!
1. Temperature
Radish cold tolerance or relatively high, is a semi-cold vegetables. Its seeds can germinate at about 3 degrees, but its suitable growth temperature is usually around 20-25 degrees. In its seedling stage, it can withstand temperatures of about 25 degrees Celsius, but it can also grow normally at minus 2 degrees Celsius. The optimum temperature for growth of its stems and leaves is about 10-20 degrees. Among them, the growth temperature of fleshy roots is about 15-18 degrees Celsius, and the lowest temperature cannot be lower than zero, otherwise it will lead to freezing injury of fleshy roots.
2. Water
Radish growth on water demand is relatively large, but also a radish growth characteristics that we need to pay attention to. Radish fleshy root moisture content is larger, so its soil moisture content should be maintained at about 75%, air humidity should reach 80%. A suitable air humidity can greatly help the quality of radish. However, soil moisture should not be too much, otherwise it will lead to a decrease in air in the soil, which is very unfavorable for the absorption and growth of roots. However, if the soil is too dry, it will lead to an increase in the spicy taste of the fleshy roots and reduce the quality. Be sure to maintain a uniform water supply, otherwise the fleshy roots are prone to cracking.
3. Soil nutrition
Although radish can adapt to many types of soil, if you want to ensure radish yield and quality. Then when we choose planting soil, we should mainly use thick, soft and water-retaining soil. Among them, the pH value of the soil should be kept at about 5.5-6.8, which is very beneficial to the growth of radish. Then we should pay attention to the nutrient absorption ratio of radish. Among the three elements, radish has the greatest requirement for potassium, followed by nitrogen and finally phosphorus. The ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be kept at about 2.1: 1:2.5.
4. Light
Light is also one of the growth characteristics of radish, radish in the growth of light changes are more sensitive. It needs plenty of light to grow properly. Under suitable light conditions, radish plants grow healthily, photosynthetic capacity becomes stronger, and the accumulation of nutrients in radish body can be improved. Speed up the expansion speed of fleshy roots and improve yield. Radish is a kind of vegetable with long sunshine, so its flower bud differentiation and flowering speed will be accelerated under the environment of more than 12 hours of sunshine every day and higher temperature.
The above is a brief introduction to radish growth characteristics. Today's introduction is here, this article is for reference only, I hope to help everyone oh!
