Seedling raising techniques of bottle gourd
Bottle gourd is an annual trailing herb of the genus Cucurbitaceae. In some areas of Hebei Province, bottle gourd refers specifically to zucchini. In ancient times, its mature and dry fruit shell was used as a container and also used as medicine. So do you know how to raise gourd seedlings? Let's get to know it with the editor.
1. Prepare nutritious soil
Before sowing, we should first prepare 1 part of rotten dry manure of livestock and poultry, 2 parts of plant ash, 7 points of sterile and fertile garden soil that has not been planted with cucurbitaceae vegetables, stir them well, and then add 0.5 kg of ternary compound fertilizer or 1 kg of superphosphate per cubic decimeter. In addition, in order to prevent the threat of diseases and insect pests, it can also be added to methyl thiophanate or carbendazim powder 100 grams, which can be excellent prevention of diseases and insect pests.
2. Seed treatment
Choose a sunny day for 1-2 days before sowing, on the one hand, in order to break the seed dormancy, help to improve the seed germination rate and germination energy, on the other hand, to kill the germs carried on the seed surface. Because the seed coat of bottle gourd is thick, it is not easy to absorb water, so the seeds should be soaked to promote germination before sowing. First, soak the seeds in 55 degrees hot water for 10-15 minutes, and constantly stir until the water temperature drops to 30-35 degrees, then soak for 3-4 hours. After the seeds are fully absorbed, scrub them repeatedly with hands, rinse them with clean water, wrap them with a wet cloth after being fished out, put them in a greenhouse to accelerate germination, rinse once a day to avoid accumulating heat and rotting seeds, and sow seeds when most of the seeds are white.
3. Sowing seeds
Before sowing, first pour the seedling bed with water, flatten the bed soil after underwater infiltration, and then raise seedlings with a nutrition bowl with a diameter of 10 cm. First of all, fill 2/3 of the nutrient soil into the nutrition bowl, put it neatly on the seedling bed, spray through the water, and then start sowing after it seeps under water. When sowing, sow one grain in each nutrition bowl with the bud facing down, and then cover it with a layer of 1.5-2 cm of fine soil. It is best to put a small arch shed on the seedling bed and cover it with a film.
4. Seedling stage management
Bottle gourd is a temperature-loving vegetable, the key to cultivating strong seedlings is the temperature, if the temperature is too high, the seedlings are easy to grow, and if the temperature is too low, rigid seedlings will be formed. Therefore, half of the seedlings are not ventilated, the temperature is kept between 25-30 degrees, the temperature is kept at 20-25 degrees after emergence, and the night temperature should not be lower than 15 degrees. When the external temperature reaches more than 20 degrees, the film should be opened in time for ventilation, and when the temperature drops, should be covered with grass curtains to keep warm. Generally, there is no need to pay tax at the seedling stage, and when the soil is found to be dry, it should be sprayed with water in time.
