Rabbit gastroenteritis is a common disease in the process of raising rabbits, which can occur in all ages and seasons, among which young rabbits have the most morbidity and mortality. The common disease is mainly caused by eating rotten and deteriorated feed or frozen feed, in addition, taking or accidentally eating some drugs will also lead to gastroenteritis. So how to prevent and cure gastroenteritis in rabbits? Come and have a look with the editor.

1. Symptoms

The course of the disease is usually 1-7 days, and death occurs within 10 hours of acute attack. The main symptoms are loss of appetite, indigestion, diarrhea and constipation. Feces are sparse, some are green with stench, some are milky colloidal, and some are white or yellow mucus. The seriously ill rabbits are extremely weak and their hair is dull. Regardless of the amount of activity in the province, they are often curled up in a corner because of abdominal pain.

2. Preventive measures

In order to prevent the occurrence of the disease, frozen feed should not be fed and ice water should not be used. At the same time, attention should be paid to the quality of the feed, especially in the summer high temperature season. Once the feed is found to be moldy and deteriorated, the feed should be stopped immediately and the feed should be changed in time. When feeding green feed, it should be washed and dried before feeding, to prevent pesticide and dew residues on green feed, to ensure the healthy growth of rabbits.

3. Treatment measures

Appropriate treatment should be taken according to the morbidity of rabbits. When constipation occurs in sick rabbits, you can take salt laxatives internally, such as 4-8 grams of artificial salt. For rabbits with dehydration caused by diarrhea, they should be rehydrated in time. 5% glucose water or Ringer's solution can be injected intravenously, once in the morning and afternoon. For rabbits who have recovered after treatment, bitter stomach-strengthening agents can be used, such as taking gentian tincture 1ml per time, or aromatic stomach-strengthening drugs, such as tangerine peel tincture 2ml per time. For those with mild illness and no need for treatment, limit its food intake, or fast for 12-24 hours, give only a small amount of water, and then feed feed that is easy to digest, high in sugar, low in fat and low in protein, and gradually increase food intake until it returns to normal.
