After the end of the flowering period of butterfly orchids, pruning pedicels can not only reduce nutrient consumption, promote plant growth, make plants grow more luxuriantly, but also make potted plants look more beautiful. So, what about Jack?

Phalaenopsis pruning pedicels is mainly based on individual needs. There are usually two more scientific ways to trim pedicels:

One way is to cut it close to the basin, about 1 cm away from the matrix, and cut directly to the root. This kind of scissors does not need to retain bud points on flowering pedicels.

Another method is to count several internodes up from the base of the pedicel and originally retain a few bud points on the old pedicel so that the plant can continue to sprout on the old pedicel in the later stage.

However, if the internodes are retained, it is generally necessary to retain more than 5 internodes, because most of the bud points on the old pedicel germinate from more than the fourth bud point. However, a small number of new buds begin to sprout and branch from the fifth bud point.

Therefore, if we want the plant to sprout and branch on the old pedicel, it is recommended that we keep five internodes, and each Internode generally has a bud point.

At the same time, it should be noted that after sprouting and drawing lateral branches appear on the bud point left on the pedicel, we can cut off the old pedicel that has not sprouted in the upper part. In the past, more than 5 internodes were not cut, mainly because it was uncertain whether the plant germinated from the fourth or fifth bud point.

After the bud points on the reserved pedicels sprout, it is recommended to cut off the upper internodes that do not sprout in time, so as to reduce nutrient consumption, so that the new buds sprouted below can grow better and branch faster.
