Sweet corn is deeply loved by consumers because of its rich nutrition, sweet, fresh, crisp and tender, and it has been widely planted because of its high sugar content and long harvest time. Let's go with the editor to understand what we should pay attention to in the sowing time of sweet corn.

1. Isolated planting

In order to ensure the edible varieties of sweet corn, it should be different from other varieties when selecting land for planting. Isolation planting method should be adopted when sowing, which can be divided into two ways: spatial isolation and time isolation, but spatial isolation is better. Spatial isolation requires that no other corn varieties should be planted within 300-400 meters. If there are natural barriers such as forests and hills, the isolation distance can be appropriately shortened. If spatial isolation can not be adopted, time isolation can be adopted, mainly by staggering sowing time to avoid meeting the florescence of sweet corn and other varieties. The interval between the sowing period of the two varieties is 20-25 days. If the two varieties are planted in large areas, then the isolation standard can be appropriately reduced.

2. Fine land preparation

Because sweet corn seeds are generally shrunken and small, it is more difficult to emerge after sowing than ordinary corn seeds, so it is necessary to prepare the soil carefully before sowing. When planting, the land with loose soil, fertile soil and convenient drainage and irrigation should be ploughed 20-30 cm in time after the previous harvest, combined with ploughing and applying sufficient base fertilizer, generally, 1000-1500 kg of rotten organic fertilizer, 30-40 kg of calcium superphosphate and 20 kg of potassium sulfate are applied per mu, and seedling transplanting can also be adopted in places where conditions permit.

3. Sowing by stages

Sweet corn is mainly used to sell fresh ears on the market or to supply processing plants to produce canned food. It is completely different from ordinary corn in planting, and it is not resistant to storage. Therefore, the planting of sweet corn should be planted by stages according to the market demand and the processing capacity of the factory, and the early, middle and late maturing varieties should be matched to improve the economic benefit. When sowing, there are generally 3-4 grains per hole, and the soil is covered in time after sowing, and the sowing depth is slightly shallower than that of ordinary corn.

4. Reasonable close planting

The planting density of sweet corn should be determined according to variety characteristics, soil fertility, sowing date and planting mode, and pay attention to the commercial performance of fruit panicles. In general medium fertility soil, 3500-4000 plants per mu is suitable for early-maturing varieties, 4000-5000 plants per mu can be planted, and 3000-3500 plants per mu is suitable for late-maturing varieties.
