Common misunderstandings in fertilizer application
At present, there are a variety of fertilizers on the market, how to choose a suitable fertilizer is not simple for farmers, many farmers do not know how to apply fertilizer, often fall into a misunderstanding in fertilization, not only resulting in a waste of fertilizer, but also counterproductive. Let's take a look at the common misunderstandings in fertilizer application with the editor.
1. Calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer is used as topdressing.
Calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer should not be dissolved in water, and fertilizer should be compared, so it is not suitable to be used as topdressing, especially after the middle period of crop water, which will result in low utilization rate of fertilizer and poor effect. The correct application method of calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer is as base fertilizer mixed with organic fertilizer, or as mixed seed fertilizer, so as to maximize their effect.
2. Shallow application or sprinkling of nitrogen fertilizer
Our commonly used nitrogen fertilizers are urea, ammonium bicarbonate and so on, which contain high nitrogen. After being applied to the soil, except a small amount of nitrogen is directly absorbed by plants, most of them have to be decomposed and transformed into ammonium nitrogen by microorganisms before they can be absorbed and utilized by crops. In addition, the property of ammonium bicarbonate is unstable, if it is applied shallowly, the fertilizer efficiency is low, and the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied is too large, and the concentration of nitrogen fertilizer is too high, the ammonia volatilized from it will fumigate the stems and leaves of crops and cause fertilizer damage.
3. Direct seed dressing with calcium superphosphate
Many farmers like to mix seeds directly with calcium superphosphate, which is a mistake. Calcium superphosphate contains 3.5% free acid, which is highly corrosive, and direct seed dressing will reduce the germination rate and seedling emergence rate of seeds. Its correct use is for topdressing, and it should be applied deeply in ditches. When making seed fertilizer, it should be applied 5-6 cm below or on the side of the seed, and the fertilizer should be separated from the seed with soil to avoid direct contact between fertilizer and seed, so as not to burn the seed and cause seed rot.
4. Mixed application of zinc fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer.
There is a serious "antagonism" between zinc fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer. If they are applied together, it will reduce the fertilizer efficiency of zinc fertilizer and cause unnecessary waste, so zinc fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer should be separated and used. As base fertilizer and seedling fertilizer respectively, it can improve the fertilizer efficiency of phosphorus and zinc fertilizer.
5. Borax is dissolved in cold water
When spraying borax foliar fertilizer, many farmers will dissolve borax with cold water, so borax will recrystallize quickly and lose its fertilizer effect, so generally, before application, borax will be put into a hot water bottle, dissolved with boiling water, cover the cork to the field, and then add cold water to the desired concentration, which can greatly improve the effect.
