The nutritional value of pumpkin is very high, contains a variety of rich nutrients, basically planted in all parts of our country. Although pumpkin cultivation is quite common in our country, when many people plant pumpkin, its yield is not very high, and the benefit is not very good. In fact, there are certain planting skills for growing pumpkins, so what are the specific ones? Today, the editor brings you pumpkin planting skills. Let's take a look at it.

1. Planting time

Pumpkin is a plant that likes to grow in a warm environment and is suitable for short-day sunshine. Pumpkins are drought-tolerant, but they are afraid of waterlogging, but they can adapt to most of the soil. If you want to grow pumpkins well, the first trick is to control the planting time of pumpkins. Usually if the pumpkin is planted in spring, then the pumpkin should be planted during the solar terms of Ching Ming Festival and Grain Rain. That is, about April to May, if it is covered with greenhouse or plastic film. Then the planting time can be advanced appropriately, and the spring sowing varieties should be early-maturing, cold-resistant and high-yield.

2. Take precautions against the growth of apprentices

When the vines of pumpkins grow to more than two meters long, we should pay attention to the heart-picking work. It is necessary to remove the growth point of the main vine, promote the main vine to grow into branches, and improve the flowering and fruiting rate of pumpkin. Then we should also pay attention to avoid melon vine growth, if the melon vine grows excessively, then it will lead to a decline in the number of pumpkins. Therefore, when applying fertilizer, it is necessary to control the amount of nitrogen fertilizer and appropriately increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. We can cut a small cut around the 30cm of the pumpkin vine root, and then insert a piece of charcoal into it to effectively prevent the melon vine from overgrowing.

3. Build a melon rack

Pumpkin is a climbing plant, so it is also very important to set up a melon support. We have to observe the growth of pumpkin vines every day. When pumpkin vines grow to about 3 meters, pumpkin vines should be put on the shelves in time. Because the fruit of pumpkin is very heavy. Therefore, the melon support frame must be strong and can withstand the weight of all pumpkin fruits. Improving the permeability of pumpkin vines can effectively reduce diseases and insect pests, and the yield can also be increased. It can also prevent pumpkin fruits from accumulating in the ground and rotting.

4. Spray up and down

Pumpkin fruit is relatively large, so in the fruiting period, we should pay attention to topdressing work to improve the yield and quality of pumpkin. When topdressing, the upper part of the plant should be sprayed with foliar fertilizer, and the lower part of the plant should be properly drenched to the root. When the pumpkin bears fruit, we should spray foliar fertilizer every 10 days or so. When spraying, we should pay attention to spraying on the back of the leaves, not directly on the pumpkin, to prevent the melon from rotting and lead to a decline in yield. It is best to spray in the morning and evening, because the noon temperature is high, it is easy to cause the liquid to evaporate too quickly and reduce the effect of fertilizer spraying.

The above is a brief introduction to pumpkin planting skills. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
