There is no need to add soil to grow orchids with pine bark. Can be properly mixed with clean perlite, cinder ash, etc., if you want to add a little soil, you can add some pine needle soil. Smash the pine bark, put it in a sealed plastic bag and expose it to the sun. Then scald it with boiling water, remove it and dry it, mix it with other substrates and use it.

Because its growth likes the matrix with good air permeability and good drainage, it is beneficial to the growth, and loess increases the difficulty. Can be properly mixed with clean perlite, cinder ash and so on, so that the combination can create a breathable growth environment, if you want to add a little soil, you can add some pine needle soil. Note that pine bark can only be used after degreasing and fermentation, and then sterilized after ripening. If it is not treated and used directly, it is easy to cause plant death.

Second, how to deal with it

1. Collect the bark of pine trees, then smash them with a hammer, break them into small pieces of a certain size, and then soak them thoroughly in water.

2. Prepare a sealed plastic bag, put the bark in, then tie the mouth tightly, so that you can expose it in the sun. It will take about 2-3 months for the bark to mature, and you will see signs of blackening of the bark.

3. Scald the rotten bark with boiling water to play the role of sterilization and disinfection and prevent later infection.

4. Dry the treated bark, then mix it with other substrates and use it.
