Cymbidium in the breeding process we had better give it a year after the flower to change the pot, trim the rotten roots, change some new plants into it, this is conducive to the next year's re-flowering, the following small series to share with you how to give cymbidium to change the pot.

The materials needed to prepare the hybrid cymbidium for pot replacement

1. Decayed pine bark.

You can collect it yourself or buy it online. Cook it for 30 minutes before using it to remove oily substances and kill eggs and bacteria.

2. Flower pots.

A flowerpot special for orchids that is larger than the original flowerpot. Can't be too big, otherwise watering is not easy to dry, it will be easy to rot roots, orchid special flowerpot ventilation and water permeability is better. If you don't have a flowerpot for orchids, you can use a regular flowerpot, but it's best to buy a tower-shaped draining cover and put it inside the flowerpot.

Preparation before changing pots

1. Before changing pots, stop water for a few days, because the roots are brittle and easy to break when they absorb enough water, and the roots are soft and not easy to break when they lack water.

2. Take off the pot and pay attention not to destroy the root system. It is better to destroy the flowerpot than the root system.

3. Clean up rotten and empty roots and some old leaves (one reed head can be cut off), because there are usually eggs under the old leaves, cutting off can also provide more nutrients and growth space for new leaves.

4. If there are many rotten roots and need to be pruned, we need to put it in a cool and ventilated place for two days, which is conducive to the healing of root wounds.

Official basin change

Put the decomposed pine bark into the flowerpot, put the amount so that the original soil of Cymbidium is flush with the flowerpot, do not plant too deep, and then fill the decomposed pine bark on the side, so that the roots and plants can fully contact.

Then change the pot to complete, because it is cooked pine bark, so do not need watering, plant material can be used pure pine bark, do not need to add other, this is a professional orchid expert said oh.
