Taiwan is rich in native products, but in the past it was unable to enter the horticultural market because of its ability to break through reproductive restrictions. The Taitung Agricultural Reform Station (hereinafter referred to as "Taitung Farm") has successfully developed Taiwan's native fern, Parasitopteris costatum, into ornamental potted flowers by using the "green sphere" technology. Commercial propagation of the rare Dryopteris chinensis is also under way, hoping to successfully push it to the global channel, so that the international community can see the beauty of Taiwan's ferns.

Li Wen-nan, an assistant researcher at Taitung Field, says that the coastal fern has excellent weather tolerance and a wide range of light adaptation. It is very easy to take care of indoors or outdoors, and its plant type is upright. It is suitable as a medium and long-term plant for pot formation, and has great potential for commercial production of potted flowers.
