The planting methods and matters needing attention of Cymbidium seeds should be sowed in time after soaking.
Gentleman orchid is a very popular potted plant, its leaves spread out like a big fan, and sometimes there are small orange flowers in the middle, which is very pleasing to the eye. So there will be a lot of flower friends to buy some orchid seeds to buy home to grow their own, so what are the planting methods and points for attention?
First, the seeds of Cymbidium should be planted in acidic soil after soaking.
Some of our flower friends have very strong hands-on ability, so we want to participate in the whole process of orchid from seed to flowering to fruit, so we should start from the planting of seeds. In fact, the planting method of Cymbidium seeds will not be particularly difficult. So what is the planting method of Cymbidium seeds?
1. Seed selection
When we plant orchids, the first step is to select seeds, so how to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of orchids from their fruits and seeds? What kind of seed should be chosen? When we see the skin of the orchid change from green to red or maroon, press it with your hand. If the fruit begins to soften, the pericarp and the seed have begun to separate, indicating that the seed is ripe and it is time for harvest. At this time, the seeds in the fruit can be picked out.
2. Soak the seeds
The seed skin of Cymbidium is very tough and not easy to get into the water, so we must soak it before planting, which is a very important step in the planting method and matters needing attention. Only in this way can the seeds germinate smoothly. We can use about 40 ℃ of warm water, soak the seeds for 24 to 36 hours, and then fish them out and plant them.
3. Select soil
The seed of Cymbidium is suitable to be planted in acidic soil, and the suitable pH value is 6-6.5. The most common topsoil in our daily life is the topsoil in the forest, which is full of humus pine, and then put 1/3 of the clean fine sand in it. According to these steps, the root can grow in 15 to 20 days.
Second, the seeds of Cymbidium should be sown in time.
When we plant the seeds of Cymbidium, we not only need to master its breeding methods. And it also needs to know the points for attention when planting seeds in order to raise a perfect pot of gentleman orchids. So what are the points for attention in breeding Cymbidium seeds?
1. Select the seed of the mother plant.
If we buy the seeds of Magnolia from the outside, we must pay attention to the seeds that come down from the mother plant. How to choose the seed of Magnolia? Generally, it is necessary to choose mature bulbs with falling tops, and it is better to choose seeds with full, glossy particles and obviously protruding embryo eyes. Otherwise, the pressure on the seeds will be very weak.
2. Sowing in time
After we choose the seeds of Cymbidium, we must sow in time. If we do not sow in time, the germination rate of the seeds after storage will be significantly reduced, so naturally we will not be able to raise a good orchid. If we can't sow in time, pack it in a sealed plastic bag and store it under a line ventilated at a temperature of 4: 10 ℃.
3. Temperature selection
As long as we follow the conservation methods of Cymbidium seeds, it will sprout. However, the time of germination will also change with these factors. Cymbidium seeds are suitable for germination at a temperature of about 32 ℃. If the temperature is lower than this temperature, the germination will be obviously slower, and less than 10 ℃ will stop germination, so attention should be paid to the temperature.
