Series Preface: In March 2015, Fan Qinhui, a college classmate and chairman of Taiwan Soundscape Association, published a new book "Saving Silence." This topic is interesting. Does silence also need to be rescued? After reading it, I really feel that this is a good book of epochal times. No one is unfamiliar with this topic, and everyone is accustomed to noise disturbance. However, I realize that silence has become a rare resource, and it has reached the point where it must be rescued. It is even more awake to the crisis of modern civilization.

Although the arguments in this book are not unheard of, it is Taiwan's first systematic exploration of "soundscape" classics, combining soundscape and ecological protection, from the body to the soul, right! This is the concept of action that Taiwan needs right now, and it is also a civic movement that needs to stand up immediately.

On January 16, Fan Qinhui and Hong Yongxin, secretary general of the Sound and Scene Association, went south. I made an appointment with Lin Kunhai, director general of the Kaohsiung Bird Association, Li Genzheng, CEO of the Earth Citizen Foundation, Xie Yilin of Sanyu Bookstore and other friends to discuss. Consensus was reached at the meeting: In order to understand the geographical characteristics of Kaohsiung City's "mountains, seas, rivers and harbors" through soundscapes, and to combine them with the issues of land administration efforts, we chose four topics: Chaishan, which was bombed by radio, Qiaotou wetland, which faced the road crossing, Qijin, which faced industrial pollution, and cultural Weiwu Camp. Workshops were held to focus on the unique issues of each area and gather the energy for change.

This series of articles is a record of this civic movement. This article focuses on Chai Mountain. Please click here for other articles.

After climbing Chaishan for so long, the biggest problem is that a few mountain friends listen to the radio while climbing. It is very annoying. Yang Bo-ming, a senior who loves climbing Chaishan and vice chairman of Kaohsiung Chaishan Association, said to me,"This must be publicized. I often ask people to climb mountains to listen to the wind of insects and birds, not to listen to the radio. I actually get scolded!" Ou Ruiyao, president of the Kaohsiung Bird Association, also said,"Birds sing so well that you can't hear them at home. It's good to listen to the radio at home!"

After all the discussion, the resolution to promote Chai Shan "silent mountain path movement"! The idea goes something like this:

1. Write a comment on why Shoushan Nature Park needs to promote the "Silent Mountain Trail" and establish a quiet mountain culture, starting with not listening to the radio.

II. Think about whether to immediately promote the legalization of silence and directly add a ban on radio broadcasting to the prohibitions announced in Shoushan National Nature Park? Visit the preparatory office of shoushan national natural park management office to consult the possibility of legalization? Hold public hearings to promote the "Silent Mountain Trail", organize related activities, invite environmental groups, life management offices, legislators, parliamentarians, and the public to climb Shoushan together, and promote "Silent Mountain Trail begins ~~~" along the way.
