In the past, most fishing ports were full of dirty images. in order to encourage fishing ports to improve their operating environment, the Fisheries Department held the country's first fishing port environmental assessment, which was won by Wushi Port in Ilan, Southern Macao, and Wuqi fishing Port in Taichung. The acting Director of Fisheries, Mr Cheung Chi-shing, said that in the past, the fishing port was purely a space for fishermen. With the evolution of the times, the fishing port has also increased its public leisure function. By awarding awards to encourage the fishing port to change, people are also more willing to go to the fishing port for leisure or to buy fresh fish and get close to the sea.

Chen Xiuhou, director general of the Toucheng fishing Association, said that outside the Wushi Port area, there is Guishan Island and the Lanyang Museum, which is rich in tourist resources. The Fisheries Department provides a total of nine first-class fishing ports in the country, three of which win awards.

There are 221 fishing ports in China, of which Wushi, Nanao, Zhengbin, Badouzi, Hsinchu, Wuqi, Anping, Qianzhen and Donggang Yanpu are Class I fishing ports, while the remaining 212 are Class II fishing ports in charge of local governments. Zhang Zhisheng said that the first evaluation was conducted by the central competent category I fishing port. In the future, it is hoped that each local government will recommend a fishing port to participate in the evaluation, so as to actively encourage the fishing port to improve its environmental quality.

Wang Qingyao, head of the planning team of the Fisheries Department, said that the modern fishing port is becoming multi-functional. In addition to fishing, it also acts as outlying island transportation, fishing, blue highway sightseeing and leisure whale watching activities, while the competitive fishing port is distributed in seven counties and cities and eight fishing associations. The environment plays different functions, so experts from the three fields of tourism, fishing and environmental restoration are specially hired to form a committee. According to the inspection and evaluation of various fishing ports, Wushi Port, Southern Australia and Wuqi fishing Port were selected as the winning fishing ports this year.

The Wushi fishing port has a clean environment, and a temporary area for abandoned fishing nets has been set up in the southern Australian fishing port.

Chen Xiuhou, director general of the Toucheng District Fisheries Association, said that the Wushi fishing Port belongs to the first category fishing port directly under the Council of Agriculture. Originally, the county government was in charge of the port area. After coordination, the Toucheng District Fisheries Association adopted the green space and public space of the port area. The fishing association commissioned a cleaning company to maintain the cleaning business of the port area, and the fishing association was directly responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the port area.

Director Cai Yuanlong said that the Su'ao fishing Association will promote the establishment of a temporary area for abandoned fishing nets in the Southern Macao Port area. in the past, fishermen who used to dispose of abandoned fishing nets were unable to dispose of them and often abandoned them arbitrarily, but now the fishing associations are looking for manufacturers to sort the abandoned fishing nets and recycle some of them or incinerate them.

The fishing club will also coordinate with the cleaning team to set up nine clearance points in the port area, and garbage trucks will enter the port at a fixed time for boatmen to throw away rubbish at a fixed point. In the past, fishermen used to throw rubbish at will in the port area on board, but now the fishermen will set up monitors all over the port area. if there are fishermen who throw rubbish at will, they will be reported and punished in accordance with the waste disposal method after the persuasion period. since the monitor was set up, the phenomenon of arbitrary litter in the fishing port has been greatly reduced.
