As the key to the sustainable breeding and development of the whole pig herd, the feeding work and reproductive ability of reserve sows are very important. The estrus of reserve sows will directly affect the production performance of the whole herd. If the reserve sow is abnormal or not in estrus, it will have a great impact on the economic benefits of pig farmers. So what should we do if the reserve sows are not in estrus? Let's take a look at it with the editor.

1. Preventive measures

1. Nutritious drinking water

When we feed the back-up sow feed, we should ensure that the feed is clean and hygienic, and do not feed moldy and deteriorated feed. To ensure that the feed nutrition is comprehensive and adequate, the feeding amount should be controlled according to the age and body weight of the reserve sows. For example, at the age of 120 days, the reserve sow 65kg up to about 170d 105kg, let it eat. Then from this beginning to the first half of the third estrus, feed restrictions should be done, feeding about 5 jin of feed every day, and ensuring adequate clean drinking water. Then make sure that the sows move freely for at least one more day a week, and a tied boar can be put into the 6-month-old sow herd.

2. Master the first match date.

The first mating period of reserve sows is very important. According to the experiment, the first mating age of binary crossbred reserve sows should not be lower than 8 months old, and their body weight should be kept above 110kg. In general, they should be allowed to go through the first two estrous periods, and each estrous cycle of reserve sows is about 21 days. Therefore, about 40 days after proestrus, the reserve sows can be mated when they begin their third estrus. The reserve sows should be properly fed estrus feed half a month before the third estrus to promote ovulation in the sows.

3. Appropriate temptation

In addition, we should also do a good job of seducing back-up sows. When the reserve sows are about 170 days old and weigh about 110 kilograms, they can start seducing work. Let the reserve sows come into contact with the boars about twice a day, each time at 10 minutes. It is best to ensure that the boar has a strong enough sexual desire, its seductive effect will be better. Then every day we should also pay attention to the use of back pressure and vulva examination and other methods to check the estrus of sows, and to make a good record of estrus and prepare for mating. If the sows without estrus are found in time, they can be treated as soon as possible. Finally, it is necessary to do a good job in disinfection and disease prevention to ensure that back sows can be mated normally.

II. Treatment methods

If the non-estrus of the back sow is due to congenital reasons, then it should be eliminated in time. If it is caused by the disease, then corresponding measures should be taken according to the actual situation of the disease. If it is too serious to be in estrus, it should be eliminated as soon as possible. If it is mild, it should be treated in time so that it can recover as soon as possible. For sows that are normal but not in estrus, an appropriate amount of Chinese herbal medicine or vitamin E can be added to the feed to promote estrus. Can also be injected pregnant horse serum, intramuscular injection of chorionic gonadotropin and so on. Finally, non-estrous sows can be driven into the boar herd and come into contact for a quarter of an hour, twice a day, and some sows will be in estrus after a week or so.

The above is a brief introduction to what the reserve sows should do if they are not in estrus. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
