When raising orchids, if you match the soil, you will get twice the result with half the effort. So, how to configure the soil for orchid cultivation? What are the ways?

The principle of soil distribution

When raising orchids, the soil is generally required to meet five points: the soil is somewhat acidic, the soil is relatively rough, the nutrients are rich and sufficient, maintain moisture, and it is loose and permeable. The soil that can meet these points is the soil that is more suitable for cultivating orchids.

Soil mixture based on soft plant material

In the allocation of soil is mainly soft, to choose some of its own relatively loose and breathable plants, such as rotten leaf soil, sawdust, coarse sand and so on, these can be used to configure the soil for orchid cultivation.

Mix 1/2 sawdust, 1/4 rotten leaf soil and coarse sand, and mix well.

This kind of soil has the characteristics of loose ventilation, moisturizing and sufficient nutrient storage, which is very good for the growth of orchids, it takes root quickly, the plants are strong, and the flowering is fierce.

Soil mixture based on hard plant material

Hard planting materials can also be equipped with soil suitable for orchid culture, the more common are pebbles, broken bricks, blue stone, water moss, bark and so on. With the configuration of these plants, orchids can be cultivated.

Generally, when configuring the soil with hard plant material, it is difficult to master the use of fertilizer, and it is best to add some soil to the soil to supplement nutrients.

When configuring the soil, the plant can be placed in layers. The larger plants are placed at the bottom of the flowerpot, the small and medium-sized ones can be placed in the middle, and the finer soil is placed at the top.
