1. Using potassium to control nitrogen

First of all, we need to use potassium to control nitrogen to promote flower bud differentiation. Because litchi trees have a great demand for potassium during flower bud differentiation. Therefore, after the last tip turns green, we should apply potash fertilizer properly. And potash fertilizer has a certain inhibitory effect on nitrogen fertilizer, which can prevent litchi trees from absorbing too much nitrogen. As a result, we can also achieve the purpose of controlling winter shoots, but we should also pay attention to controlling the application amount. If the amount of fruit hanging on a tree is 50kg, then the application amount of potassium chloride is generally about 0.5-0.7kg.

2. Deep hoe to cut off roots

After the last autumn shoot of the litchi tree matures, we should combine with the garden cleaning work to deeply hoe and cut off the roots. First of all, the topsoil of the litchi tree should be hoed about 30cm, from shallow to deep, and the floating root on the tree surface should be cut off, and the deepest depth can be hoed to about 20cm. But if it is an old tree, then be careful not to be too deep. Avoid injuring the root too much, put its tree power. In the deep hoe, you can dig a circular trench to cut off part of the lateral root of the tree and backfill in about 20 days. And sprinkle appropriate amount of lime powder to control the absorption of roots and inhibit the growth of winter shoots.

3. Ring cutting and ring peeling

When the autumn tip of litchi tree turns to the period of flower bud differentiation, the leaves will gradually fade, which is the sign of flower bud differentiation of litchi tree. However, because some trees absorb too much nitrogen fertilizer and do not fade normally during flower bud differentiation, ring-cutting and ring-peeling is needed at this time. The ring cutting should be about two times according to the litchi variety and tree potential ring, and the width is 4cm, and the spiral cutting should be carried out. While girdling should cut off a certain width of bark and try not to do closed girdling. If the growth is weak or the old tree, then it is not suitable for ring cutting, the time should be after the autumn shoot mature, before the flower bud differentiation.

4. Manual removal

At the end of autumn, if the temperature is warmer and there are more Rain Water, then litchi trees are very easy to grow winter shoots. Especially for young trees and strong trees, the winter shoot phenomenon is very common. If the tree is small or the winter shoot is less, then we can remove it manually. Winter shoot removal should also be carried out before flower bud differentiation to avoid affecting flower bud differentiation. When the winter shoot grows to about 5cm, remove the first pair of compound leaves and keep the tender shoot around 1cm, and then spray shoot control anthocyanin properly twice.
