He Xuanqing, who just published 18 new fish species in Zootaxa, has devoted himself to fish research for nearly 20 years. As of this year, he has published 108 new fish species (calculated by effective species). He has successfully squeezed into the top 100 rankings of the global important fish species list website Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fish (Note). It is estimated that after the publication of the special issue, he will climb to about 82 in one fell swoop. He is the fourth Chinese to enter the list and the first person in Taiwan. The rest were from Singapore (2) and China (1).

Compared with scholars from other countries who mostly select specific species to study, He Xuanqing has a wider range of research objects, from
