The planting time of edamame bean is relatively early, generally, it can be planted at the beginning of spring, but because of the earlier time, there are many problems to pay attention to, the most serious of which is less pod. So what is the reason for the lack of pods in edamame beans in early spring? How to solve it?

1. The temperature is too low

The growth temperature of edamame bean is generally above 15 ℃, and the temperature of flower bud differentiation is higher. Generally, it takes more than 20 ℃ to differentiate normally, and the differentiation speed is the fastest at about 24 ℃. However, it is easy to have a large temperature difference in early spring. When the temperature is too low at night, the flower buds of edamame beans can not differentiate, resulting in no room for pods to grow and fewer pods naturally. This period of time must do a good job of cold protection, if the temperature remains too low, it is best to prepare plastic film to provide edamame beans with a suitable temperature growth space.

2. Disease threat

Disease is a problem that edamame bean has to face, and many diseases of edamame bean will affect the growth of pods. Such as anthracnose, downy mildew and so on will have an impact on pods to a certain extent, these diseases will make pods lack of nutrients, resulting in withering and falling, and in serious cases, it will lead to the death of the whole plant. Second, some worms will devour new pod sprouts, making it impossible for them to grow, and the pods will naturally be reduced. Every day, we should check the specific situation of edamame bean plant, do a good job in treatment according to the disease, understand what diseases are more likely to appear in each stage, targeted prevention, less loss.

3. Lack of water

The demand for water during the growing period of pods is huge, if the lack of water will directly lead to pods can not develop into shape, and even some development will follow the fall off. Because when the pods grow, they need to rely on water to transport nutrients to the pods for their development. If the water is insufficient, the nutrients will not be supplied, and the pods will naturally be less in the later stage. It is best to prepare for many times of water application in the pod period to ensure the wettability of the soil and check the wetting degree of the soil regularly so as to avoid soil drought in the pod period.

4. Lack of fertilizer

Fertilizer at podding stage needs to be guaranteed, when the demand for nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer is relatively large. Nitrogen fertilizer makes the plant have more branches, while phosphate fertilizer promotes the growth of pods in each branch. Lack of nitrogen fertilizer will lead to weak plants, not many branches that can bear pods, and lack of phosphate fertilizer will lead to no pods on the branches. At this time, it is necessary to fertilize according to the situation, and for those whose plants are weak, they need to add nitrogen fertilizer first, and then grow good plants and then apply phosphate fertilizer. Those who grow well without pods will catch up with phosphate fertilizer according to the situation.

The above is the reason why the edamame bean pods are less in early spring. The environmental factors in early spring fluctuate greatly and are not as stable as at other times, so growers pay more attention to inspection. First determine the cause and then solve the problem, so as to effectively solve the situation of few pods.
