Can orchids without pots be kept outside for maintenance?
In the actual operation of cultivating orchids, we often turn pots and split plants in autumn. Sometimes orchids will be planted at the end of autumn or even in winter due to special circumstances. Due to the low temperature in winter, the orchid will not be able to take the pot for a long time. So, can these orchids that fail to take pots be kept outside for maintenance?
First of all, this problem is regional. We know that after the orchid is put into the pot, it needs the right temperature and growing environment to grow in the pot as soon as possible. Therefore, orchids planted in winter should be as close as possible to the temperature and environment suitable for their growth. Therefore, the temperature and environment in the southern region are closer to the natural growth of orchids. Therefore, in most parts of the south, orchid plants can be preserved outdoors in winter.
For example, Hubei and Hunan. Even if there is a cold spell, the cooling range will not be very large, and the stay time will not be very long. Due to the regional relationship, the air humidity is high. It won't have much effect on orchids.
In the north, it is usually dry and cold in winter, and the temperature at night is often ten degrees below zero, ten degrees below zero (in North China), or even lower. It is not suitable for open-air cultivation of orchids at all, even the more hardy cymbidium and cymbidium should be moved to ordinary low-temperature indoor maintenance.
That's for sure. Some other strains of orchids, such as Jianlan and Muran, should be preserved in a warmer environment. The more suitable temperature should be about 15 °. Too low or too high temperature is not very beneficial to Jianlan, Muran and so on. Therefore, Cymbidium and Cymbidium should be placed in an environment with a temperature of about 0-10 °for normal low-temperature vernalization. On the other hand, some other strains of orchids, such as Jianlan and Muran, should be placed in an environment with a temperature of about 15 °and allow them to dormant or grow freely. This is a more reasonable method of orchid maintenance and management in winter.
