The flowering time of crab claw orchid is longer, but it will go through winter, so in the process of maintenance, it is necessary to increase the duration of warm light to avoid too low temperature during the flowering period. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizer solution should be added properly, and the amount of water can be increased only after flower bud differentiation.

1. Increase the light

The florescence of crab claw orchid begins in October every year and lasts until February of the following year. Flowering coincides with the cold and lack of light in winter, in order to ensure that the bud flowers can have a normal and stable light nourishment, it is necessary to extend the daily light time. If the light intensity is too dark, it can be maintained by artificial brightening.

2. Control temperature

After all, the flowering period goes through winter, and more attention needs to be paid to the temperature maintenance of crab claw orchid before the beginning of spring. Move indoors before winter, and keep the suitable temperature above 12 ℃ to ensure that the flowers will not fall off in large areas because of the low temperature. Under the premise of ensuring ventilation conditions, the best guarantee temperature is between 15 and 18 ℃.

3. Fertilizer application

Proper fertilization at flowering stage can make crab claw orchid flowers large and colorful. Fertilizer varieties generally choose phosphorus and potassium fertilizer or potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, which is applied to the soil every 10 to 15 days. Flower buds can stop fertilizing after healthy growth, buds are relatively weak, or the number is relatively small, then timely topdressing to ensure adequate nutrition.

4. Water irrigation

Crab claw orchid before the flowering period can not be overwatered, generally wait until the soil is dry and thoroughly irrigated. Too much watering of flower buds before growth can easily cause branches and leaves to grow, but after flower bud differentiation, more water can be given appropriately to help flower buds develop rapidly and grow cute during the flowering period.
