Purple root orchid is a perennial bulbous herb of the Amaryllidaceae family, also known as George lily. Common in China's middle and lower reaches of the region has a wide distribution, purple root orchid ornamental value is very high. Therefore, it was also liked by many people, so there were more and more people breeding purple root orchids. So how should purple root orchid be cultivated? Today, Xiaobian brought you the cultivation method of purple root orchid. Let's take a look at it together!

1. Breeding methods

The common propagation methods of purple root orchid are sowing propagation and raiding propagation. If it is sowing and breeding, it should generally be carried out in June and July every year. It usually germinates about three weeks after sowing, but if it is planted and propagated, it takes about three years to flower. Therefore, the use of more or sub-plant reproduction. The propagation takes place in February and March of each year. The purple root orchid plants are removed from the soil, then the rotten roots and some excessive roots are pruned and cleaned and disinfected. The plants are then split off with roots and planted in other potted plants. It provides a cool environment, and after gradually adapting, it can grow normally.

2. Water and fertilizer management

Purple root orchid in the growth process, the requirements for water is relatively high. However, when watering normally, pay attention not to overwork and keep the soil in a slightly moist state. Usually watering once every half month or so, if it is summer, it can be watered appropriately, and in winter, the amount of watering should be reduced to avoid excessive water causing root rot and freezing injury of purple root orchid plants. Then do a good job of fertilization, in the spring and autumn season, generally about a month can be topdressing once. The fertilizer is mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and overwintering fertilizer is applied once in winter, and no fertilizer is applied in the rest of the time.

3. Light temperature

When breeding purple root orchid, we should pay attention to providing sufficient sunlight for it. However, attention should also be paid to controlling the light intensity. In addition to summer, the rest of the time can be allowed to receive direct sunlight. However, in summer, because the light is too strong, so pay attention to set up a good shade net, do not let the plants receive direct sunlight, to prevent yellow leaves, deciduous wilting and other undesirable phenomena. Then in the growth of purple root orchid, the temperature should be controlled at about 20 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is less than 10 degrees Celsius, the growth of purple root orchid will be inhibited. If it is lower than 5 degrees Celsius, the plant will be frozen. Therefore, temperature control is also very critical.

4. Other management

Purple orchids also have certain requirements for soil. Purple root orchid likes to grow in soft soil, strong permeability, fertilizer and water conservation and organic matter-rich soil. Suitable soil is critical for the growth of purple orchids. Then in February and March of each year, we should pay attention to pruning. The purple root orchid disease branch, old branch and so on some lose the value branch to cut off. Then clean up some fallen leaves to ensure that the purple root orchid plants grow with sufficient nutrients and improve their ornamental value.
