Calcium is an important mineral element to ensure the high and stable production of laying hens. if the layers do not eat enough calcium, then the laying hens are very likely to suffer from osteomalacia and often produce soft-shell and thin-shell eggs, especially during the peak period of egg production. Eggshell quality and egg production rate decreased. So how do laying hens supplement calcium? What should I pay attention to? Let's take a look.

1. Pay attention to the quality of full-price feed

The compound feed for laying hens sold on vegetables is generally equipped with calcium content, but some manufacturers will add a large amount of stone powder to the feed to make the feed contain more than 4% calcium in order to reduce costs and seek higher benefits. Therefore, attention must be paid to identification when buying, and high-quality full-price ingredients produced by regular manufacturers with good reputation must be selected.

2. Do not use raw bone meal to supplement calcium

Raw bone meal refers to a week of inferior bone powder produced in poor equipment, that is, the miscellaneous bones are simply washed and then cooked in a cauldron without pressure or degumming, and then dried and crushed. This kind of bone powder is mostly black or dark gray, accompanied by bad smell and high calcium content, such as laying hens are fed with this kind of raw bone powder for a long time, because it is not treated by high temperature and high pressure, bone calcium is combined with bone glue, and the absorption and utilization of calcium in laying hens is low. Moreover, over a long period of time, it is very easy to cause the imbalance of calcium and phosphorus in chickens, resulting in the decline of laying capacity and egg quality of laying hens, resulting in huge economic losses to raising chickens.

3. Calcium supplement is not fed with spinach.

When supplying calcium to laying hens, it is not suitable to feed with spinach. Spinach contains a lot of oxalic acid, which will produce calcium oxalate that can not be dissolved in water, which hinders the absorption and utilization of calcium. Therefore, when feeding spinach, one is to avoid calcium supplement time, the second is to limit the amount of feeding, not a large number of continuous feeding, the third is to chop it up before feeding, and then scald it with boiling water or soak it in cold water for a period of time, and then feed it. This can destroy oxalic acid.

4. Don't excessive supplement of trace elements.

In order to enhance the hardness of the eggshell of laying hens, manganese, zinc, magnesium and other elements can be added to the feed, but it is not appropriate to add too much, the feed must be mixed, vitamin D is destroyed, affecting the absorption of calcium and phosphorus.
