Clematis, as a kind of flower with high ornamental value, is still very popular in our country. It is very common whether it is used as a potted plant or for ornamental greening in the garden. Now more and more people are growing clematis, and when planting clematis, reproduction is very important. So how do clematis reproduce? Today, the editor has brought you the breeding method of clematis. Let's take a look at it.

1. Cuttage propagation

Cutting propagation is a propagation method often used in clematis. Choose a semi-mature robust branch on the plant from July to August each year. Then go to the central point in the upper and lower sections to intercept, and keep about two words of buds on each section. Then the cutting substrate was prepared with materials such as peat and sand. Insert the cuttings into the matrix to expose the buds on the nodes. The ground temperature is kept at about 16 degrees, and it needs to be kept in a greenhouse to survive the winter in order to prevent a sudden drop in temperature. In summer, we should also do a good job of shading and rain prevention, which can be planted around October.

2. Sowing and reproduction

In addition to cutting propagation, sowing propagation is also a more common propagation method used in clematis. Clematis can be sown in spring and autumn. If it is sown in spring, it can sprout in about January. And if it is autumn sowing, then you have to wait until the spring is warm. In spring sowing, because the germination cycle is relatively short, so we need to do a good job of seed germination. First soak the seeds in warm water of about 50 degrees for about 20 hours, then control the seeds to dry and use a wet cloth to accelerate germination. When about 60% of the seeds are white, they can begin to sow.

When sowing, we should control the sowing time according to the planting area. In the north, because the temperature is lower, it should be sown when Ching Ming Festival, while in the south, because the temperature picks up quickly, it can be sown in March. Before sowing, it is necessary to do a good job in soil preparation to ensure that the terrain is leveled and the border is ready for sowing. The sowing method of clematis is generally strip sowing, the row spacing is controlled at about 55 cm, and the sowing ditch depth is 2 cm. Cover the soil about 1.5 cm after sowing and suppress it properly. Because of the long germination cycle of seeds in autumn, there is no need to accelerate germination and sow seeds directly in November.

3. Other methods of reproduction

In addition to sowing propagation can be cuttage propagation, clematis can also be used for strip propagation, when striping propagation, first of all to choose a strong, disease-free old branch. Then cut and peel the xylem at a distance of about 10 cm from the base of the branch, disinfect it and apply appropriate rooting agent. Then press it directly into the soil to cover the soil and do a good job in daily management. Generally, it can take root within a year, and after rooting, the root can be cut off directly and become a separate plant. And because clematis is a kind of secondary plant, it can also be propagated separately.

The above is a brief introduction to the breeding methods of clematis. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
