Cutting method and time of poinsettia
Poinsettia has a large planting area in China. When planting poinsettia, the most commonly used propagation method is cuttage propagation. No matter it is old branch or tender branch, it can be cut, and the survival rate is relatively high. In the process of cutting propagation, we should choose different cutting branches and time according to the time. So how to cut poinsettia? When do you want to cut it? Let's take a look at it with the editor.
1. Cutting time
The cutting time of poinsettia should be selected according to the cutting branches. If the cutting branches are semi-lignified and semi-hard branches, then the cuttings should be carried out every year from March to May when the temperature is about 15 degrees. If it is a tender wood cuttage, it should be carried out at the end of March, as long as the temperature is kept above 20 degrees, then it can be carried out until September. Finally, if the cutting branches are old roots, the cutting time should be about 3-4 months.
2. Cutting methods
1. Semi-hardwood cuttings
First of all, we have to choose a good branch, which is mainly composed of about one-year-old semi-lignified paper. The length can be controlled at about greater than 10cm, and then the leaves at the lower end of the branch can be cut off. Then cut the base of the branch into an oblique plane and disinfect it to avoid bacterial infection. After dealing with the branches, insert the branches directly into the soil. Then the temperature is controlled at about 23 degrees and then poured thoroughly. Under normal circumstances, it can take root after three weeks. You can insert a few more branches each time, and then choose a better growing branch from it to plant.
2. Softwood cutting
The branches of tender wood cuttings should be based on the branches of the same year, and about 6 leaves should be kept on the branches. The length is controlled at about 7cm, and then the general leaves are removed. After cutting off the leaves, soak the branches in water for about two minutes to avoid the sap from the wound, and then cut them directly into the soil. After softwood cutting, we should pay attention to maintain a moist soil environment, often water, and do a good shade work, under normal circumstances, it will take root in half a month or so.
3. Old root cutting
If it is a potted poinsettia, then it is necessary to turn the pot and change the soil every year. For poinsettia, which has been cultivated for many years, it will produce a lot of old roots. Therefore, when turning the basin, we can choose some waste gas old roots for cutting, the old roots will be cut into about 10cm. Then disinfect it and insert it into the soil, preferably to ensure that there are a small number of roots on the old roots. Cuttings are as deep as possible to provide enough space for the roots to stretch. Under normal circumstances, new leaves can grow in about a month.
The above is a brief introduction of the cutting method and time of poinsettia. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
