Phalaenopsis is elegant and charming in shape and blossoms like butterflies that only spread their wings to fly. After the flower fade, all the flower stems should be trimmed to avoid the consumption of nutrients, and at the same time, the pot should be changed in time to cut off the necrotic root system, and so the plant can be fertilized normally. After pruning and changing pots, the plants should be maintained in the later stage to facilitate their early recovery.

1. Prune the flower stem

After the butterfly orchid fades, the withered flowers and stems should be pruned to avoid excessive nutrient consumption. Generally speaking, the flower stem is cut off from the bottom of the plant to facilitate flowering in the coming year, or if you want to enjoy the flowers as soon as possible, you can leave 4-5 nodes on the flower stem, so that Phalaenopsis can blossom again for about 3 months, but it is not conducive to growth and flowering in the coming year.

2. Change the basin in time

During the flowering period, a lot of nutrients will be consumed to blossom, when the nutrients in the potted soil have been basically exhausted, so the pot should be changed in time after the flower fades. Take out the plant when changing the basin, clean up the soil and cut off some necrotic roots, pay attention to light cutting not to hurt the root, sprinkle some ceramsite at the bottom of the basin to increase drainage, pour into the culture soil, and add 10 grams of sulfur powder to sterilize and reduce the ph value of the soil.

3. Supplement fertilizer

Basically, the plant will be in a state of lack of fertilizer after flowering, so it is necessary to apply a small amount of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer in time to supplement the nutrients consumed by flowering and let the plant grow smoothly. During the flower bud differentiation period of Phalaenopsis in winter, if there is a lack of fertilizer, it is easy to lead to too little or no flowering, which must be properly supplemented.

4. Points for attention

Plants that have been too pruned and changed pots cannot be cultured in accordance with the usual methods. After pruning, it is best to slowly recover the wound where there is scattered light to avoid strong light exposure, while plants that have changed pots need to suspend fertilization, control watering and keep the soil slightly moist, otherwise it will cause stagnant water to hurt the roots.
