The causes and treatment methods of flowering and clipping of Cymbidium
Clivia is a famous flower plant. Its flowering period is around New Year's Day. It is a very important festival flower. However, some small partners have found that although Clivia blossoms, it is stuck in the middle of leaves. This phenomenon is called arrow clip. What should I do in this situation? Let's get to know each other.
1. Temperature discomfort
Clivia flowering and flower arrow extraction is stimulated by certain temperature conditions, that is, temperature difference stimulation. Clivia flowering needs 5-10 degrees of temperature difference between day and night to make its flowers and flower arrows grow normally. If it does not meet the temperature requirements, it will affect its flower bud growth and development and flowering, and clip occurs.
Solution: During the day, Clivia will be moved to indoor warm areas, and then placed in cold areas at night, after 3-5 days of regulation, flower arrows can basically be extracted normally. Or you can artificially create a temperature difference environment. You can cover the flower arrow with a black plastic bag during the day to increase the temperature inside the bag and remove it at night. This is also OK.
2. The basin soil is too dry
Clivia is a kind of plant that likes water, especially during flowering and arrow extraction, the demand for water is greater, so it cannot be short of water. If this is a lack of water in the pot soil, it will affect the normal growth and development of Clivia, and there will be a phenomenon of clipping.
Solution: So in the flowering period to timely watering Clivia, add moisture, can also spray water mist around the plant to increase air humidity, can also promote the growth of flowers and arrows, but also can alleviate the symptoms of clipping.
3. Improper fertilization
During the flowering period of Clivia, if too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied, the growth of Clivia flower bud and flower arrow will be inhibited, resulting in poor flower bud growth and difficult flower arrow extraction.
Solution: During the flowering period of Clivia, nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled, or no nitrogen fertilizer should be applied. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be added. If nitrogen fertilizer is applied too much, water can be irrigated. After fertilizer is absorbed, water can be discharged. Spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution through foliar fertilizer can also promote the growth of flower buds and flower arrows.
4. Root system damage
Clivia is a relatively special flower, it flowers and leaves have a large storage of roots, buds usually hidden in false bulbs dormant, until the right time will grow and develop. If the root system loses behavior during the flowering period of Clivia, it cannot absorb water and nutrients to supply the flower bud growth, so the flower bud cannot bloom normally. Even if the flower bud grows out, but the nutrients and moisture in the later stage cannot keep up, it will inevitably grow weak, making the flower arrow unable to be pulled out normally, forming a clip.
Solution: If it is a clip caused by rotten roots, then only the bad buds can be cut off, saving nutrient consumption, and at the same time the rotten roots can be cut off and re-cultivated.
