Why is it difficult to raise orchids in cities?
Although orchid cultivation has a history of more than 2000 years in China, its habits in mountains and forests remain unchanged, which not only requires acid soil with rotten leaves and half-shade scattered light, but also is not resistant to smoke, dust and air pollution. Other cultivation management, such as watering, fertilization, ramet, pot and so on, is also more special than other flowers, which will not grow luxuriantly with a little neglect, or cause insect diseases, so it is difficult to raise them well in cities. People who raised orchids in the past summed up the experience as follows: spring does not come out (spring storage), summer does not come out (summer overcast), autumn is not dry (autumn run), and winter is not wet (winter dry). It is also said that the habits of orchid have twelve joys and fears: fear of summer, wind and cold, fear of rain, fear of moisture, fear of dryness, fear of thick soil, fear of fertilizer and turbidity, fear of dust, fear of warmth and smoke, fear of insects, fear of leaving mother in clusters, and fear of arrogance and indulgence.
Of course, to create a suitable growth environment and cultivation conditions for orchids, orchids can still be cultivated.
