Seed treatment of zucchini
Zucchini is called small pumpkin by many people. It is a kind of melon vegetable with rich nutritional value and large market demand. It has a very large planting area in our country. When planting zucchini, in order to improve the germination rate of zucchini seeds and the yield in the later stage, we need to treat the seeds of zucchini before planting. So what exactly should be done? The following editor will give you a brief introduction, let's have a look!
1. Seed selection
Before the zucchini seeds are sown, we must first choose the zucchini seeds. The seeds should be fresh, glossy and with high germination rate. For some seed coat dull and yellowing phenomenon, then generally stored for a long time of old seeds, the germination rate of this kind of seeds is generally low, not suitable to choose. Then we have to pick out the impurities in the seeds, the seeds of diseases and insect pests and the seeds with wounds. To ensure the overall quality and germination rate of seeds, the seed consumption per mu is usually controlled at about 200g.
2. Seed disinfection
Seeds may carry germs, so we should also do a good job of disinfecting seeds before sowing. Soak the seeds in warm water of about 60 degrees to soak 10min or so. In the process of soaking, you should pay attention to constantly turning the seeds. When the water temperature drops to about 30 degrees, soak the seeds for about six hours, and then wash them clean to accelerate germination. The seeds can also be soaked in carbendazim for about an hour or potassium permanganate for half an hour. After soaking the seeds, clean them with clean water and soak them in clean water for 5 hours to achieve the purpose of sterilization and disinfection. However, we should pay attention to control the concentration of the solution to avoid drug damage.
3. Seed germination
After disinfecting the seeds, remove the seeds and wash them repeatedly to remove the mucus from the seed epidermis. Then shake the water dry, wrap the seeds with a wet cloth and put them in an environment of about 28 degrees to promote germination. When sprouting, pay attention to turning the seeds frequently, at least once a day. Ensure that the seeds are heated uniformly in all directions. Under normal management, the seeds can sprout in about two days. Then when about 80% of the seeds grow to about 0.5 cm, they can be sown.
4. Sowing seeds at the right time
Before sowing, we should first prepare the seedling bed and pour enough warm water of about 35 degrees into the soil. When the water seeps into the lower layer of the soil, the culture soil on one side of the upper layer of the soil can be sown. Zucchini seedling method is mainly to raise seedlings in a nutrition bowl, each nutrition bowl can sow a seed, after sowing to cover a layer of about 4 cm of nutrient soil. In general, after all the nutrition bowls have been sown, they should be covered with another layer on the whole bed, and then properly covered with plastic film to maintain soil moisture. Seedlings can emerge after about 7 days. When about 75% of the seedlings are unearthed, the plastic film should be removed to avoid burning seedlings.
The above is a brief introduction of zucchini seed treatment methods. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
