The yellowing of orchid leaves is mainly caused by unstable light, improper watering, excessive fertilization and diseases and insect pests.

1. Control lighting

Orchids need 4-6 hours of sun-scattered light every day to grow normally. If they are exposed to light for insufficient or too long time, the leaves will turn yellow. In addition, if you are exposed to the hot sun for a long time in summer, it will also cause the leaves to burn and turn yellow, so you need to control the range of light.

2. Rational watering

Orchids like a humid environment, but this does not mean that too much water is needed. If the pots have stagnant water, which affects the breathing of the roots, it will lead to plant malaise and yellowing. At this time, we should stop watering and wait for recovery. If the rotten root has already appeared, it is best to change the basin soil in time to avoid the death of the whole plant.

3. Appropriate amount of fertilization

To fertilize orchids, we should apply thin fertilizer frequently, and forbid raw fertilizer and thick fertilizer. If you apply too much fertilizer, it will only be counterproductive, resulting in yellowing of the leaves, severe burns to the roots, and eventually death. If there is a serious case of yellowing of leaves, this can be properly watered to dilute the fertilizer.

4. Disease and pest protection

Orchids are easily attacked by red spiders or scale insects, which should be sprayed and killed in time, and it is best to observe the leaves every day and prevent them in time. If there are symptoms such as leaf withering, the seriously sick parts should be removed first so as not to affect the healthy branches and leaves, and then spray the potion to prevent the disease from spreading continuously.
