The method of Leaf insertion Propagation of Cymbidium
Cymbidium leaf propagation is to use the leaves of Cymbidium cuttings, the leaves of Cymbidium are folded down from the roots, the cultivation soil should use humus soil or vermiculite with high nutrient content, and the leaves of Cymbidium should be inserted deep into 5cm. At the initial stage of cuttage, there is no need for more watering, and it can be kept moist. Rooting after a week, and then increase the amount of water, about two months will be from the roots of seedlings.
1. Prepare for cuttings
Break down the rising leaves from the base, and be careful not to break or cut them from the middle of the leaves, otherwise they will not be able to take root and survive. The new roots and leaves of Cymbidium grow from the yellow nodes at the bottom of the leaves, so it is necessary to ensure the integrity of the nodes at the base.
2. Prepare the basin soil
Cymbidium cuttings need to use nutrient-rich, loose and breathable culture soil, which can be prepared with the same amount of humus soil plus river sand or pine needles plus vermiculite. Pot containers do not require much, and more beautiful flowerpots or foam boxes can be used. As long as there is a good drainage system.
3. Cuttage
Insert the prepared leaves of Cymbidium into the basin soil, because of the survival rate, it is recommended to prepare a few more leaves, keep a certain interval, not too deep into the soil, about 5cm, the first watering should be thoroughly, and then do not need too much watering to keep the soil moist.
4. Cuttage maintenance
Put the orchid in a warm and direct place without light, keep it well ventilated, and it will take about a week to take root. After taking root, increase the amount of water to promote it to sprout, and it will take about two months to grow new leaves. After the new leaves grow, the light can be gradually increased.
