Girdling is an important link in the planting process of winter jujube, which can effectively promote fruit setting and ensure high yield. However, attention should be paid to the time and method when girdling, otherwise it will be counterproductive. So what should winter jujube pay attention to when girdling? Let's learn about it together with Xiaobian.

1. Improper girdling time

Many fruit growers, regardless of age, tree vigor and flowering, blind girdling often leads to premature aging of young trees, weaker tree girdling, no fruit setting at initial flowering stage, girdling infected with germs in case of rain, etc., which not only fails to pass fruit setting rate, but also affects plant growth. Therefore, girdling should vary from factor to factor. First of all, it depends on the age of trees. Generally, girdling is 4-6 years old, and it is not suitable for girdling under 3 years old; Second, tree vigor, girdling is mainly aimed at strong trees, and weak trees and branches are firmly not accepted; Third, flowering period, girdling time is closely related to flowering time, flowering quantity and quality, and 40%~60% of flowering period should be selected; Fourth, look at the weather, try to choose the daily average temperature of 22~26℃, no rainfall for more than 3 consecutive days, so as not to infect the wound with bacteria.

2. Improper girdling method

The width of girdling was too wide, resulting in wounds that did not heal for a long time, while some were too narrow and healed in less than half a month. Some girdling was uneven, phloem was not removed completely, and xylem was damaged. This did not achieve the effect of girdling, and it would also have a great impact on plant growth. Therefore, girdling should first control the girdling position, starting from the trunk girdling position about 20 cm away from the ground; in other words, the girdling width should be controlled well, generally the girdling width is one tenth or one eighth of the branch direct; Finally, it is necessary to control the smoothness and depth of the girdling mouth. The girdling tool should be sharp, and the girdling depth should reach the xylem, but the xylem should not be damaged. Then, the phloem should be completely removed, so that the wound is smooth and the lower edge of the girdling mouth is inclined to prevent ponding.

3. Improper wound protection

Some fruit growers neglect management after girdling, so that the wound is directly exposed to the outside, which will make the wound harmful to pests and diseases. In case of high temperature, drought and rainy weather, the wound is easy to rot and necrosis. Some fruit growers wrap their wounds with plastic film after girdling, causing the wounds to heal ahead of time, resulting in a large number of fruit drops. After girdling should be dried for three days, the girdling mouth should be drained in case of rain to avoid bacterial infection, and then the disinfectant should be sprayed once every other week. After girdling for 15-20 days, gibberellin should be applied to the wound and wrapped with plastic film. The budding buds of the wound should be wiped off in time to reduce nutrient consumption.
