Strawberries go through many periods when growing strawberries. In winter, strawberry plants will gradually enter the dormant period and begin to overwinter in order to adapt to the low temperature in winter. In order to advance the flowering and fruiting time of strawberries, many fruit growers will want to break the dormancy period of strawberries artificially. So when we grow strawberries, how to break the dormancy period of strawberries? The following editor will give you a brief introduction, let's have a look!

1. Early heat preservation

In the process of strawberry planting, the depth of dormancy varies from variety to variety. For example, for strawberry varieties with shallow dormancy, such as Fengxiang and Nvfeng, the method of early heat preservation can be used to break dormancy. Let strawberry because of the lack of low temperature factors, so that it can not enter the dormancy period, to achieve early fruit, high yield. If it is planted in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the first film mulching will be carried out in late October. When starting to cover the film, the temperature in the first three days should be kept at about 30 degrees, then gradually reduced by about 25 degrees, and the humidity should be controlled at about 50%.

2. Increase the illumination

Like low temperature, too short light time is also the main factor that causes strawberries to enter dormancy period. Therefore, increasing light time is also the main way to prevent strawberries from entering dormancy and break strawberries dormancy. Strawberries are sensitive to light, even if the light intensity is not high, it will show a certain response. When we plant strawberries, we can use electric lighting to extend the light time every day to ensure that strawberries can receive sufficient light time every day. Generally speaking, the increasing time of light to break the dormancy of strawberries should be around December.

3. Gibberellin

Gibberellin can regulate the hormone level in most plants. It can prevent strawberries from entering dormancy physiologically. For some deeply dormant varieties, it is generally necessary to provide them with a high-temperature and high-humidity planting environment in advance. Then spray gibberellin twice or so within half a month after the first heat preservation, about once a week. Can effectively break the dormancy period of strawberry plants, but in the use of gibberellin should pay attention to maintain a high temperature environment, otherwise the efficacy will be affected. So after spraying gibberellin for about three days, the temperature should be kept at about 30 degrees.

4. Plant cold storage

Cold storage of strawberry plants is to artificially create a low-temperature environment for strawberries to meet the low-temperature requirements of strawberry varieties. So that strawberries can break dormancy naturally, and the low temperature that breaks dormancy in the natural environment should be about minus 2 degrees to 10 degrees. It is best to keep it at about 3-5 degrees, if it is below three degrees below zero, it will cause chilling damage to the plant. Cold storage treatment is generally carried out in November every year, according to the temperature requirements of the variety, after the passage of the natural dormancy period, and then transplant strawberry plants to the greenhouse.

The above is a brief introduction of how to break the dormancy of strawberries in time. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to everyone!
