The Garden Life Festival, held lively at the end of September, is an annual event sponsored by the Taipei Industrial Development Bureau. The Bureau of production and Development has promoted garden life for many years, from basic construction and construction to consultation on agricultural technology and promotion of the material industry, encouraging people in the community to get closer to planting.

When the work is busy, the pace of life is tight, and you want to realize your dream of pastoral life in the city, how do you start? And when communities gradually merge from cold cement buildings into green landscapes, edible landscapes, and vanilla plants, what changes will happen to the residents living in them?

This year's "Garden Life Festival" invited experienced garden operators, related issue teams and professional material partners to participate in the event, and four distinctive garden communities in Taipei set up stalls at the scene to show how the eco-green community life was built from scratch under the guidance of the production and Development Bureau, breaking through the restrictions of insufficient space, adverse environment and residents' hesitation, bit by bit.

The first person to take the stage is the "healthy Social House" in Songshan District. This is the first social housing in Taipei that only rents but does not sell. Apart from letting the general public move in by drawing lots, the Bureau has launched a "Youth Innovation feedback Program." let young people qualify for rental housing through various proposals to give back to local residents. At present, there are 31 youth innovation teams applying for rental housing through this scheme, including "parent-child learning", "sacred food kitchen", and "green meaning of life" to popularize plant knowledge. These creative and energetic young people have contributed their professional strengths and practiced the value of "taking it from the society and using it in the society".

Wu he, a doctoral student in the Department of Bioscience at National Taiwan University, led local residents to plant indoor gardening plants with self-made cement pots in order to set up a "green life."

The Hengai Development Center, located in Xinyi District, built the public roof as a parent-child farm in 2015 with the assistance of the production and Development Bureau, leading people with physical and mental disabilities to feel the nature of all things through the process of turning soil, moving pots, planting, harvesting, and so on. At the same time, the harvested vanilla crops are integrated into handmade biscuits or made into alcohol detergent. According to the exquisite observation of the center's colleagues: "it is difficult for most people with physical and mental disabilities to understand external things through intellectual dictation. However, through the five senses of ── contact with soil, the smell of vanilla, the taste of crops, or even digging earthworms in the process of digging the soil, or ecological changes such as bees caused by crop blossoms and birds looking for food because of fruits, they can feel the joy of life again."
