Red fire ants have ravaged Taiwan for 16 years, and it is still a difficult problem to control. The Prevention and Inspection Bureau announced a few days ago that three areas, including the container terminal of Kaohsiung Port, the south courtyard of the Imperial Palace in Chiayi County, and Gongliao District of New Taipei City, have been confirmed to have no traces of red fire ants in the past six months. However, red fire ants mainly range from northern Taiwan, south of the Tanshui River to the north of Touqian Creek, covering counties and cities such as Xinbei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Kinmen on the outer island.
