Breeding Technique of Small Tail Han Sheep
Small-tailed Han sheep is now a popular breed of sheep in the market, and the breeding area in China is very large. The economic value of small-tailed Han sheep is also relatively high. When breeding small-tailed Han sheep, its oestrus breeding work is very important. So how to breed small tail sheep? The following small series brings you the breeding technology of small-tailed Han sheep. Let's have a look together!
I. Season of estrus
Small tail cold sheep are generally able to estrus all year round. However, because it is a short-day breeding livestock, so every year around the Mid-Autumn Festival, because the natural sunshine time is shortened, the temperature gradually drops, so most of them will concentrate at this time of oestrus. Therefore, we can adjust the breeding time of small-tailed Han sheep by artificially controlling the light. Temperature is the main factor affecting ewe oestrus, ewe is easy to oestrus in low temperature environment. Rams also generally have higher sexual desire in autumn, winter and summer are not suitable for breeding.
II. Breeding methods
1. Free mating
The method of free mating is simple, that is, male and female are mixed together for breeding. After ewe estrus, they mate freely with rams. Free mating can save a lot of manpower and feed, as long as the ratio of male to female is well controlled and the energy and semen quality of rams are guaranteed, the conception rate is still relatively high. However, rams will chase ewes, affecting the weight of ewes. And can not control the production period, easy to appear inbreeding phenomenon. And also can not effectively know each ewes due date, prone to reproductive tract diseases.
2. Artificial assisted mating
Artificial mating can effectively improve the utilization rate of rams. In the non-breeding period, ewes and rams are raised separately in a planned way. Then record the ewes in each flock during breeding period and switch rams so that you can know the due date of each ewe. But relatively speaking, it takes a lot of manpower, and we have to know clearly the estrus time of each ewe. Use rams for test work to ensure that good breeding opportunities are not lost. It takes a lot more energy than free mating.
3. Artificial insemination
Artificial insemination is to use artificial insemination machinery to collect semen from rams, and then to carry out quality inspection, vitality dilution and other work on semen. and then using relevant instruments to input the same into the reproductive organs of geese of ewes. Artificial insemination can ensure the utilization rate of excellent breeding rams, and the number of mating ewes collected by rams can be kept at about 12 per time. Under normal circumstances, about 400 ewes can be mated during the whole breeding season. And the males and ewes are not in direct contact, so certain diseases can be prevented.
The above is a brief introduction to the breeding technology of small tail Han sheep. Today's introduction is here, this article is for reference only, I hope to help everyone oh!
