The hot summer does not test the patience of every florist, but also tests the endurance of every flower and plant. First of all, different locations should be placed according to the different habits of plants to light. Some potted flowers that like the sun and fear the cold, such as Milan, jasmine, white orchid, kumquat, iron tree and five-needle pine, are beneficial to its growth as long as the potted soil is placed in the outdoor open air with continuous water. For some half-shaded potted flowers, such as orchids, crab claw orchids, camellias, mast flowers, four seasons crabapple, etc., should be placed in the semi-shade, avoid the scorching sun at noon, otherwise light scorched leaves, heavy will be sunburned to death. There are asparagus, hanging orchid, brown bamboo and other foliage plants, should also avoid the hot sun, otherwise the leaf tip will also zoom and affect the ornamental.

Secondly, due to the high temperature of the scorching sun, watering should be thoroughly. Place balcony Xiyang potted flowers, especially small potted flowers or bonsai, some are watered once in the morning and evening, and sprinkle water on the leaf or ground many times to increase the ambient temperature and play a cooling role at the same time. But some ornamental plants placed indoors, and those that are dormant or semi-dormant in midsummer, such as Ruixiang, gentleman's orchid, begonia and drought-resistant wax plum, plum blossoms, etc., the potted soil only needs to be kept generally moist, and there is no need to water too much too frequently to avoid rotting roots.

Third, in the hot summer season, in fertilization, to prevent excessive concentration or fertiliser, so as not to cause harm; and pay attention to suspend turning the basin to change soil, wait until after autumn.

In addition, summer potted flowers should prevent diseases and get rid of pests. In general, the common pests on potted flowers in summer are red spiders, aphids, whitefly, shell insects, etc., such as saving the amount of available tobacco water (5-10 cigarettes are soaked in 500 ml water, plus a small amount of washing powder or soap); if there are more pests, it can be sprayed with 100 times diluted dichlorvos or dimethoate, with better results.
