The rotten root of the gentleman orchid is a phenomenon that often occurs in the process of protecting the gentleman orchid. When you find that there are signs of yellowing at the tip of your Cymbidium leaves, or the brightness of your leaves decreases obviously, or when you touch the bulb of Cymbidium with your hand, you feel that Cymbidium is shaking fiercely, it all shows that Cymbidium has rotting roots.

When you feel that your magnolia has rotten roots, you should dig it out of the pot. First of all, all the rotten roots should be removed. After the rotten roots are removed, rinse the roots of Cymbidium under clean water. Then the roots of Cymbidium were soaked in 1 ‰ potassium permanganate solution for five minutes. At this time, the old soil previously planted with magnolia can no longer be used. When replanting Magnolia, you should use the new soil that has been sterilized and insecticided. remember not to add any fertilizer to the new soil, because fertilizer is not conducive to the healing of root wounds and will cause the roots to continue to rot. If the root rot is more serious, or if there are too many root wounds, then we can plant the orchid in coarse sand or coarse sawdust. In the process of maintenance and management, the amount of water should be specially controlled, as long as the coarse sand or coarse sawdust is kept wet. Through this kind of management, a new root will be sent out in about half a month. After a month, usually four or five new roots will grow. When the new root system grows to four or five centimeters long, the orchid can be planted in the rotten leaf soil, and a small amount of fertilizer can be added at this time.

The coarse sand of this kind of grain is more suitable for rooting.

For the gentleman orchid that needs root after rotting, it can also be planted in the coconut shell for maintenance. Because the particles of the coconut shell are relatively large, and the water absorption and air permeability is better, the coconut shell is a very good root-promoting matrix of Cymbidium. I have used coconut shells to root several magnolia after rotten roots, and found that the effect is very good.

For the gentleman orchid root process need to pay attention to a few points, I would like to explain to you here.

First of all, the soil should be treated with sterilization and pest control. Only when there are no germs and eggs in the soil, the wound on the root system of Magnolia can be easily healed and will not continue to rot.

Also, don't apply fertilizer to the new soil. Because the fertilizer contains more germs and eggs, these bacteria and eggs will accelerate the rot of the root wound of Cymbidium. Even those organic fertilizers that have been sterilized and insecticidal will reproduce germs and eggs as a result of secondary fermentation, so organic fertilizers must not be used. In addition, after the root system of Cymbidium decayed, its ability of absorbing water and fertilizer decreased obviously, and the organic fertilizer in the soil basically could not be used. Therefore, do not apply organic fertilizer during root stimulation. Of course, inorganic fertilizers can also hurt the roots and cannot be used.

The use of soil with good permeability is very helpful for Cymbidium to develop new roots. If the particles of the new soil are thicker and the soil permeability is better, then the oxygen content in the soil will be higher, even after we irrigate the water, there will be a lot of oxygen in the soil. The increase of oxygen content in soil is one of the most important conditions for Cymbidium to grow new roots. In addition, if the new soil has good permeability, then we can increase the amount of water, which can keep the soil moist for a long time, and the wetness of the soil will speed up the rooting of Cymbidium.

When the rotting root phenomenon is more serious, the ability of the root system to absorb water and fertilizer will be greatly reduced, and the magnolia does not need too much light at this time. Therefore, for the root period of the gentleman orchid put in the lighting is better indoor maintenance, can not accept the direct light of the sun.

Temperature is also a necessary condition for gentleman orchids to take root. During the root-stimulating period, the temperature should be kept at about 20 degrees. If there is a temperature difference of about ten degrees between day and night, the effect will be better.

As long as you follow the above method of maintenance, no matter how serious your magnolia rotten root phenomenon is, after a month or so of maintenance, your magnolia will grow a number of healthy and strong new roots, making your magnolia regain exuberant vitality.
