The so-called vernalization means that the daily temperature difference between day and night of orchids is more than 15 ℃, and the minimum temperature is lower than 15 ℃. Therefore, the timing of vernalization of orchids is not determined by the bud, but by the temperature of the orchid growing environment.

For the majority of northern orchid friends, vernalization is a technical work, because the northern winter is very cold, a little attention may cause orchid seedling frostbite. Orchid experience, when the lowest outdoor temperature is less than 15 ℃, you can begin vernalization, until the lowest temperature is about 5 ℃, in order to prevent orchids frostbite, immediately end vernalization, do not listen to the promotion of the network, orchids to more than ten degrees below zero snow mountain can also be raised outdoors, this kind of speech harm oneself and others, valuable orchid grass do not set foot in the trial risk.

In addition, the vernalization of Cymbidium has time requirements, the best time is 45-60 days, short time can not play a vernalization effect, too long time is easy to frostbite orchid seedlings, the loss outweighs the gain.

There is no difference between the beginning and the end of vernalization of orchids, such as wild orchids, which gradually experience low temperatures in the wild until they bloom when the weather is warm next spring.

Therefore, our orchids do not have an exact time to begin vernalization, as long as we insist that it can accept the outdoor temperature and enjoy the temperature difference between day and night. In late autumn, when the temperature difference in the orchid area is the biggest, we often wear a cotton-padded jacket in the morning and a single coat at noon. Plants like this temperature difference very much because the energy produced during the day can be stored to the maximum extent.
