Feeding and management of quails in winter
Quail is a kind of bird of pheasant family, which is distributed all over China, and it is also a kind of common bird. Quail is now in a very large market demand in China, whether it is quail eggs or quail meat are welcomed by many people. Therefore, the breeding area of quail is also relatively large. When raising quails, feeding and management is very important. Especially in winter, how to raise and manage quails in winter? Let's take a look at it.
1. Balanced nutrition
When raising quails in winter, feed feeding is very important, we should feed comprehensive and balanced formula feed. In addition, an appropriate amount of sand should be put into the feed to allow quails to feed freely so as to improve the digestive ability of quails. And also to provide sufficient warm water for quails, do not feed cold water, otherwise quails are prone to diarrhea and other adverse phenomena. When feeding the feed, ensure that there are sufficient vitamins, protein and other nutrients in the feed to promote the growth of quail. If it is malnourished, the resistance of quails will decline, and there is no guarantee that they will be able to survive the winter safely.
2. Keep warm and prevent cold
The temperature in winter is relatively low, if the heat preservation work is not done well, then it will have a great impact on quail feeding, egg laying, egg fertilization and other production activities. Therefore, it is necessary to do a good job of heat preservation in winter, and insulation products should be covered on the feeding cage at night. The breeding density can be increased appropriately, or a double-layer quail house can be built, and then some materials such as sawdust of grain husks can be added between the two layers to keep warm. The temperature should not be lower than 15 degrees, otherwise the laying rate of quails will decrease significantly.
3. Lighting control
Light is also critical to the growth of quails. Because of the decrease of natural light time in winter, we should do a good job of artificial light supplement. For quails that lay eggs, keep at least 12 hours of light every day. Then reasonably equipped with light bulbs according to the size of the quail house, for example, a 100 square meter quail house should be equipped with at least three light bulbs, about 35 square meters. Then turn on the lights for about two hours before dawn and after dark every day to provide a stable light environment for quails.
4. Environmental management
Quails are very timid, and the slightest noise may frighten quails. After being frightened, quails will reduce the laying rate and may also produce soft-shell eggs. Therefore, we should pay attention to the daily work of feeding, picking up eggs, cleaning dung and so on. In winter, it is also necessary to maintain the feeling of cages and regularly use formalin or potassium permanganate for disinfection. Then the sink and food trough in the house should be disinfected every 1-2 weeks or so to create a good growth environment for quails.
The above is a brief introduction to the feeding and management of quails in winter. This is the end of today's introduction, this article is for reference only, I hope it can be helpful to everyone!
