Lotus root is a kind of vegetable that many people like, and there are many areas to grow it, but planting lotus root is not a simple period. If the species of lotus root is not selected well, the depth of water in the lotus root field is not well grasped, and the temperature is too high when fertilizing. These problems may lead to planting failure. And many farmers will also have the phenomenon of withered lotus root leaves when planting, what is the reason for this? How to prevent and cure it? Let's get to know it.

1. Causes of withered leaves of lotus root

The early blight of lotus root leaves is caused by lotus root leaf blight, which is a fungal disease that is easy to be ignored. if the disease is mild, it will weaken the growth of lotus root, and in serious cases, it will lead to the death of the whole leaf, and because of the damage of leaves, the photosynthesis of lotus root is overgrown, and the growth of lotus root and lotus seed is not nutritious, so it will seriously affect the yield and quality. The main reason for the occurrence of leaf blight is that there is no scientific management method in the process of lotus root planting, or the planting technology is not in place, lotus root seeds are not sterilized, and the amount of topdressing is insufficient, which will lead to lotus root leaf blight.

2. Symptoms of leaf blight

The leaf blight of lotus root mainly occurred in the leaves. In the early stage of the disease, the light yellow disease spot appeared on the leaf edge of the lotus leaf surface, and gradually developed to the center of the leaf, which made the disease spot turn yellowish brown gradually, and the leaf edge appeared scorched phenomenon. And with the development of the disease, the disease will spread from the mesophyll to the veins, the color of the spot will become dark brown, and the whole leaf will dry up and die, which looks like a fire from a distance. Leaf blight overwintered on the diseased body and became the initial source of infection in the following year; generally, the disease began at the end of May and the beginning of June, reached the peak in mid-late June, reached the peak from July to August, and decreased after September.

III. Prevention and control measures

1. Rational rotation

The growth time of lotus root is too long, and the germs have too many bad records in the soil, so reasonable eggs are needed to control the occurrence of the disease. Generally, rotation should be carried out in fields where lotus roots have been cultivated continuously for 3 years or in fields with serious disease. If rotation is not carried out, it is recommended to use quicklime for sterilization.

2. Clearing the fields in winter

In winter, it is necessary to clean up the lotus field, completely eliminate the disease and take it out of the field for centralized treatment. the sick leaves should be removed in time and taken out of the field for deep burial or burning.

3. Rational fertilization

The farm manure applied must go through full maturity, increase the application of available potash fertilizer and improve disease resistance.

4. Chemical propagation

At the initial stage of the disease, 50% carbendazim or 50% topazine wettable powder 800 times or 70% mancozeb wettable powder 500-600 times can be sprayed every other week or so, 2-3 times in succession, and the control effect is better.
